What is this plug in module

The manual says it's a protective cap for the wirening harness (backup camera I guess?) I don't understand why a protective cap has a plug on one end and a socket on the other.

Plastic bag with no writing ...this is the other end

I didn't mean to suggest that wasn't the cap, I just don't understand why it's designed the way it is.

I'll probably drop mine in with the tools and forget about it
