The really odd thing to me is, the driver side hole is oval, while the passenger side is round.

Just looked at my 2021 XLT and I have them as well. The factory installed hitch has the same holes and lines up with the ones on the frame.

May have just been used at the factory to align the rear bumper and tow package. As others have said, they've come in useful to keep the bumper from falling off when installing an aftermarket receiver hitch.

You realize this will make our Rangers non-symmetrical. Since the round hole is smaller than the oval, this means there is more metal on the passenger side, thus more load on that side, thus it will sit lower.
This may be the reason so many are complaining of the passenger side sitting lower than the drivers side.

under the rear of my truck on each side is two holes that look like they are intended to mount something. They are very close to where the factory tow package bolts on, on the outer frame. so if your on the side of the exhaust pipe and look up its right above. it looks like a top piece of steel and a bottom meet and could have something in between that is to be bolted. any ideas? i know a picture would help but its 2 am lol.

I think they are there for the robots.

Well it only leans on the passenger side until I get in. The extra 190lbs makes the drivers side level out with the passenger side lean. Well maybe it’s now more nose down?

If these are all on fx4/tremor models I'm wondering if they aren't side pull recovery points to be used in a pinch.

They look like 4 way and 2 way locator holes for assembly purposes, especially since the tow bar matches up with that.

I like the idea and they do look tough however, im pretty sure they are not up to snuff to be a recovery point. My eyeball estimate would say they would be ok for an add on step to reach in the bed easier or secure some tie downs or ratchet straps. But not a recovery point.

well, if the hole is good put something in it right...
Ideas on how we can use these to make the trucks better, tougher, more user friendly or just offend toycomas?
