Recently I have had reason to drive to an area with no internet/cell service. The drive out has been great, truck runs well. I leave the truck parked for a couple of hours. When it comes time to drive home I notice crappy shifts and get that oh no transmission time for me. However apart from the shifts it seems to drive normally but with maybe a little less pep. I have recently changed the DPFe sensor so it's not that. I also notice that the heat/AC temp is not displaying and does not display all the way home. The temperature, which I have on auto can be raised or lowered. This all happens when I had my cell phone with and on me but no service while stopped. Nothing changed even when service was available later in the trip home. After stopping at home next trips were as normal.
I have also made a few local trips and left my cell phone at home, crappy shifts and less pep seem to be the price I pay for not having my phone on me.
I also note that with the internet service compromised somewhat by the AWS outage that my Ranger experience was not as good as it usually is.

Has anyone else noticed anything like this? Or is it just maybe in my head?

It is the temperature (driver and passenger) on the top bar of the home screen. Not the screen you are showing. The drivers temperature setting normally shows just to the right of the home icon and the passengers temperature setting shows just to the left of the icons at the top right on the home screen.

As far as rough shifting and less pep, that’s entirely possible. We all know these 10r80 transmissions can be finicky. Some get 100k miles without any issues, others seem to have problems at 10k. Depending on your mileage, it might be something to look into more in depth. Make sure you’re staying up to date on maintenance, fluid/filter changes, spark plugs, etc

As far as things glitching here and there, definitely possible. Mine has little glitches all the time. Random warning messages that clear themselves after a few minutes, wipers choosing their own speed, fog lights cutting out momentarily. About a month ago my cruise control randomly stopped working on the way to work. I got a bunch of warning lights blinking “Service stabilitrak, hill start assist not available, pre-collision assist not available, lane keeping off
” When I got off work later and started the truck to head home, everything was normal. It hasn’t happened since. Newer vehicles are basically computers with wheels. You’re bound to have odd little things happen every now and then. Could be anything from rodent damage to connectors vibrating loose, or sensors that go bad. The more electronics you put in a vehicle, the more potential there is for issues to arise. Unless you’re having major malfunctions or problems that don’t go away, I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

As far as any of that being linked to your phone, I honestly doubt it. I’d say that’s more likely a strange coincidence than the actual cause of your issues. There have been plenty of times I’ve left my phone at home or go somewhere that doesn’t have cell service. We go camping at least once a month. I’ve never noticed the truck behaving any differently because my phone wasn’t there. I can say all the above is true for my wife’s Ranger also.

These trucks can be temperamental sometimes and they definitely have their quirks. Just something you gotta learn to love! lol

My 19 with 57.000 went to the ford dealer
Last week with rough , bucking and the beginning stages of shuddering shifts with
Light pedal , low speeds in heavy traffic.
Mostly notable in first start up driving into
Heavy traffic.
Diagnostics showed no fault codes triggered , further test confirmed a bad EGR valve,
Replaced it and back to smooth shifts!!!
Others on this forum have mentioned this
I second it !!!😎
