We have used the dealer installed Eaz-Lift Elite hitch (chains and friction bar sway control) on my old travel trailer (3,700 lbs dry) for about 5 years with really no problems. We just purchased a heavier TT (4,800 lbs dry). The dealer just bolted the old hitch onto the new trailer - I don't think it is set up exactly correct though - which I am going to check on the next warm day. However, pulling it home it had some minor sway - especially from the passing trucks - much more than when pulling my old trailer. So it got me thinking about a possible hitch upgrade.
When shopping around - I have read many reviews from folks who moved away from the chain-type WDH's and stated that they are much happier with the results as far as tow-ability, sway control, backing, etc.
I wanted to see what you folks have to say about comparing the chain and friction bar type of hitches to those with 2-point or 4-point sway control. Any noise issues with these?
Thanks in advance for your comments.
