@Jda1981 Chainsaws are the biz, and backcountry is the jam!

I just got my Ranger back from Ford yesterday after 8 days (not even comparing that to your ordeal, obvs). When I dropped it off they gave me a text, so I just text them every morning asking for an update. I knew it'd be a while for the parts and I was ok with that but I wanted that trail of texts on hand for if/when my patience ran out.

You're probably past that point but perhaps it's an easier way for you to keep on them, as I assume your reception is patchy at best out yonder.

In 1979 I bought a brand new Mercury Capri. Didn't have it more than a few days when I asked my father if this jet engine sound was normal. Dad had me take it to the dealer where I bought it. Turns out the rear end was bad... I was told something to the effect that there was no oil (or some kind of lubrication, I don't remember) in it from the factory.
They did give me a used 4-door sedan as a loaner. After more than a month, and the dealer telling me there were no parts available yet because it's a new model for that year.... my father got on the phone and told them I was making payments on a brand new car that I don't have to drive, and to take whatever needed parts off another Capri they had on the lot. That's what they did and I got my car back.

I'm mostly just venting because I know they have me over a barrel.

Back in late October my transmission started doing this surging stuttering type of thing so I dropped it off on November 12th. I noticed something off with it maybe earlier but attributed to the road surface or just being at the exact right conditions for it to be between gears or something. I work for a state land management agency and my actual office is 2 to 3 hours from the house depending on traffic and time of day but it wouldn't really matter if it was right across the street I would still be staying in the field and not in my own bed all week anyway. So on to our story.

Tuesday My Ford service rep called me this to let me know that there is no expected date for my parts to arrive or I guess for my truck to be completed I am unsure of the exact details because I was working on a wildfire at the time and couldn't ask for clarification seeing as how I had other things going on at that exact moment. Last night I was finally released from that fire to get some rest but I'm still on standby to come in this weekend if they can't continue to staff it with local resources. This morning after walking one of my kids to school while one kid stayed home sick because my wife had to take our one functioning car (2010 4runner with 220,000 miles and only needed brakes and belts despite how hard she is on vehicles) into work early. Right now I just got back from riding my bike to Walgreens at 32 degrees because my $40,000 truck is still sitting at the dealer service center 70 days after I dropped it off.

I guess my main question is how long does my truck have to sit before Ford decides that this has become unacceptable and just replaces the entire transmission or truck or something.. I feel like it is ridiculous that I am currently shopping for a used clunker to get by so my wife no longer has to get up at 3 on Monday morning so she can drive 4+ hours to drop me off at my office and be back in time to get to her office the drive another 4 to 5 our round trip to pick me up on Friday. I am fully aware that there are global supply problems but Ford is still selling cars so I don't understand why they don't have the ability to take care of the ones that they have sold an extended warranty on.
You can talk to Ford customer care but be aware, until parts are available they simply are not

Doing this with my '21 F-150 right now. Waited for a part for 8 months! Nothing that made the vehicle undrivable (wiring harness), but I said that after 8 months, there should be a part available, seeing that Ford is now making '22s. They went and pulled the part and I am finally getting it replaced. Because the part is on backorder for me, they will replace it on the vehicle where they took it off.

sounds like the dealer was at least trying to resolve it. too bad it took so long.

70 Days!? You have WAY more patience than I. At the very least they can and should be providing you a loaner.
My opinion exactly!
You've been putting up with this since November 12th?!!!
And you've been paying $10/day for the loner? (unless I read that wrong?)
BALONEY!!
Get a lawyer.
Get a new truck, I wouldn't care what THEIR parts problems are after that amount of time!
Utter nonsense.
Good luck pal.

No longer so mad about mine being broken. So far a few days with a free loaner... could be way worse. I still wish they would send some sort of update. Even "Ha! We got your Truck!" so I know they remember my ride is there.

not to salt any wounds but the dealer that had one of mustangs when i was going round and round with ford gave me a loner car free the first day. f150 pickup actually... but i had already had a conversation with the dealership gm so that is likely why they sped up the loaner thing. that was also pre covid so maybe they more inventory to offer out than dealers currently do.

I had a bad fuel injector which gave out less than a week after purchase in 2019. My truck sat in the shop for 3 weeks due to no parts. I called Ford HQ. I was not offered a loaner and grew more impatient every day. I sent a letter to Ford HQ. I was assigned a regional problem solver and asked about the lemon law option. My truck was fixed and Ford compensated me nicely for my woes. My Ranger is soon to be 3 years old and has been running fine since the fuel injector fix. Ford did me right.

I would demand it back and drive it. If something breaks before the parts are in, then you can take it back to them.

I had a first year F-150 3.5 Ecoboost. Had three issues with it which all got resolved in a timely manner. I made a call to corporate and they agreed this was excessive and agreed to give me a three year b2b extended warranty for free.
