Just wondering what folks use the mobile hotspot for - that can't be done directly using your phone. Looking at a shared data plan once the free trial period is over, but not sure what I would use it for.

In theory it would help you get a stronger signal in fringe areas. In practice it's AT&T so good luck with that.

I couldn't justify any use of the truck's on-board hot spot that wouldn't be better suited by any (insert carrier here) portable hot spot.

After all, you can get a Verizon (best coverage overall) Jetpack for 30/month and use as many devices as you want. You can even take it out of the truck, and use it when the truck is off...

Especially with Bell being the provider in Canada, Most its worth is a few gb reprieve for 15$ if you run near the limit of your normal data plan. Bell wont even give you the flex option they have advertised. When I looked at signing up I had to choose between one of the fixed rate ones which starts at the 15$ plan.

Better off using that money on your own mobile plan.

I understand that I can add the vehicle (and 1GB of data) to my existing Bell plan for $10/month and share the data. Just not sure I would have a use for it.

Other than paying money for Ford's telemetry info to be shipped (Rather than making them pay for it themselves), I can't see anything that you could do with it that you couldn't do better with your smartphone.

It is great if you need a wifi connection for work while you are traveling. When my dad was in TX helping with hurricane recovery he could jump on his laptop right in his car and connect through the hotspot which helped provide better and instant results for the victims.

For someone who doesn't need that kind of access I agree with the rest of you. It is easier to just use your cell phone or your mobile carriers hot spot that generally has a better pricing plan as well.
