Transmission Gear Shift Position Indicator

On the dash, the position that the gear shift is in P, R, N, D., etc., Is illuminated, but not so at the shifter on the console.

I can confirm the same on my Ranger and my wife's 2017 Explorer

Ran into the same issue on escapes. 2017's have illumination on the console gear selector and 2018's do not

From what I have been able to gather on this forum that early in 2019 the console shifter letters use to light indicating what gear you were in and also all the letters were lit too. Seems they did away with this feature among other ones around the same time. As an example the 2 cargo hooks in the bed. This all in the realm of cost savings to factory!

Trucks with the console lighted shift letters do not indicate gear position. Gear position is indicated on the dash display only. The console lighting of the shift letters does not change with gear positioning and is rather pointless. If you don't have it this is all you're missing.

I don't even look at either one. You just know what you're in as you shift to D, or R.

my F150 is lit.

That was only a blip in the radar back in the beginning. None of them have it now. It was only illuminated and didn’t show what gear you were in.

Some on here have illuminated their own with LED strips. There is a thread on here on how to do it. Pretty simple really

Thanks. My reason for asking is because I have found loose fender bolts as well as other issues.
