Took my Ranger out for a little drive today

From what I saw in the video that is about as off-road as I want to be, I have no recovery gear and would still prefer not alone.

This Ranger is my first truck, I've had mostly big American or imported sporty cars, I have driving my wife's Jeep JKU up in the mountains near Fontana Dam when we went for our anniversary and the eclipse. But the road I was planning on ended up being paved since my previous visit to the area. So the "off-road" part of the week didn't happen.

it gets a good bit trickier than what's shown in the video. definitely enough to force you to pay attention.

if you've never done this sort of driving before, you definitely want extra people and gear. I brought extra gear along for this and thankfully didn't need anything. I was mostly concerned with the prospect of freshly downed trees blocking the road, with the forecast high winds prior to my drive. those winds didn't quite materialize in that way, thankfully. but it did look like there were some somewhat freshly cut trees along the route, so someone does some clearing periodically.

also, I expect it'd be tougher out here if it was more wet.
