I went up one size taller when I put new tires on right after purchasing. Sidewall says 44psi max.
That is simply the maximum pressure that the tire can handle. Chances are you're still going to be a much lower pressure. I'm also going to take a wild guess and say that the door placard wants 30 PSI on all 4? If so I would start with that at minimum

I tried 32 when I first put these tires on, that was Way too low. They looked and rode like they were flat.🤣
I've been running them at 36 until a few days ago. I went up to 39. That really doesn't feel right for some reason. Seems like that it too high. Are hard as rocks at that psi. Like I said Im going to take it to the shop and have front end checked for alignment, ( offered free check). And get tires balanced and probably will need alignment. Waiting on VA Pension to hit bank Thurs. Fixed income isn't going as far as it did a year ago. Anyway, I Do appreciate your help. ✌

You might be running a really heavy load rating like E I think.. which is more for like f150’s/1500’s… C rating for our trucks is pretty solid for the Ranger.
Idk but that maybe that extra firmness you’re feeling.

The Max Psi listed on any tire is the maximum pressure that the tire can safely handle. When under heavy load in hot weather, the psi can increase by 8psi or more; even with no load, 5-6psi increase is pretty common.

So if you fill the tires to max, you are at risk for damage or even blowout. Go with the spec on the door sticker, or the tire mfr recommendation for the truck. Mine calls for 30psi all around (265/60R 18) and they look low, but I'm getting even wear on all four. I have them rotated every 6Kmi and get it aligned ~18Kmi or about once a year.

There is a chart that you input the original tire size and the new tire size, that lists the tire pressure to use. It might be from Tire Rack?

4 psi rule is a useful rough guide, if your tyres go up by more than 4 psi from cold after use the initial pressure was too low, if less too high.
