It will work, but I'm curious why you want that tire in Florida. Most seem to choose that tire because, if I recall correctly, it is a rare all-season that is also three peak snow rated. IMHO, I'd get something else for Florida.

You’re on to something Sid.

Smaller tires mean speedo reads higher, which means more miles recorded than you’re actually logging.

When there are 95,000 actual miles, the odo might read higher than 100,000 miles (I.e., out of extended warranty) and we all know what happens at 95k actual miles. ?
Hmm, are you secretly saying to change the tire size in FORSCAN to something ginormous and thus give ourselves a free "extended warranty"?

I likes the way you thinks ...

i would not want to give up the plus side of a wider tire on the street for one thats narrow but a certain tread. this is terrible misstatement and generality but in many situations more rubber on the road (width) is better. in this case it may not be enough to feel any real difference but my mind would nag me about it non stop. Michelin makes excellent tires and they are worth every cent, but maybe try another michelin tire that is the size you need. i know they make the ltx in ranger sizes and it was one of the best tires i have ever used.
Except in standing water or heavy rain.
Skinny tire has less water to move out of the way and a shorter distance to move it.
I have them on my van and they are a very good compromise.

So I pulled the trigger. I went from 255/65R/17 to the Michelin 245/65R/17. I hardly notice any difference at all. It is definitely a quieter ride and tracks very well. I am ready for rain now baby!
