I finally got around to picking up a charger based on recommendations here. I want to hardwire the ring terminals and not use the clips. What solutions are some of you using for an external QD port?

They come with regular SAE connectors, but I am going to buy a flush mount pass through version. Trying to think of best spot to put it.

Somewhere on the bumper? Maybe one of the side fender vents? (I always back into my garage so it would be on that side where my plug in is). Something else?

I am using a direct connect cable that connects to my charger. You can mount in the bed... Running the wire would be a bit challenging

I have an under hood digital volt meter hard wired to my battery with 12v SAE out for battery tender...
Yea but do you have to pop your hood every time you want to hook up? I'm thinking that will get old after a while and want to route a QD pass through port somewhere on the exterior.

Opening my hood often is how I make sure it stays clean and free of squatters...

That's only when I need to hook up...extended periods when I don't drive my truck...which is rare...
Ok, so admittedly this product is new to me.

Sometimes I don't drive for long periods, sometimes I have jaunts around town that are very short. From my understanding the short jaunt are sometimes inadequate for proper charger. Is this accurate at all?

Why I have you here, which posts on the battery did you use?

I have the "Battery Tender " brand and it came with a dedicated pigtail that mounts permanently on the battery (doesn't matter which of the several posts you use as far as I know), but yes, of course, I have to open the hood each time to plug up.

I didn't know this product existed and will order me a pair of these and I believe I will look at mounting one on the Left side inner plastic fender well area somewhere. Thanks for posting this!! We appreciate you!

You can use an SAE extension cable that is weather capable. As far as connections.... + On battery connector. - on body ground
Give me more credit that that, I know how +/- works, however I recall a discussion coming up about if its better to connect directly to the battery or one of the fork off connections. I just cant seem to find the thread.

Not directly to negative post...it won't charge that way...connect off the branch box unit...
