But a hose clamp and use that. Helps prevent theft. Been doing that on ever truck I’ve owned for the last 20 years.

Hose clamp does not work on Ranger.... Ford sells a antitheft device made by McGuard.

My hinge has a black plastic color going around the pin, and I have no issues with mine trying to come out, maybe yours is missing this part?
Pivot bushings?
