This Toyota tacoma is so reliable, it has been holding down t his patch of gravel for 14 years with ZERO maintenance, owner claims it hasn't cost him a dime in ownership costs in all those years ( tags, insurance included) current occupants (mice) agree, toyota is the best!

The older 1st and 2nd Gen Tacomas were the better ones made except for that batch of bad frames. The 3rd and 4th Gens are total garbage and I would rather walk than drive a newer one. :puke:

I owned a 3rd Gen (along with many others here) and it was one of the worst vehicles I've ever driven and owned. I wish I was able to find a 2nd Gen but they were all sold out in the model/options I wanted. From what I hear the 4th Gen isn't much better and they still have that super uncomfortable drivers seat which wrenches your back within 5 minutes of driving.

Toyota built their Tacoma reputation on the first and second gen models.

The Turd gen was a loser, yet the fan boys will still pay top dollar for them.

I haven't even looked at a 4th gen.

They look like an uglier, more angular version of the Colorado.

The Colorado looks good, the Tacoma looks iffy at best.

My last Toyota pickup was before they were called Tacoma... a manual SR5 4WD with 22RE engine, and an extra cab. It was charcoal gray. As I recall, the best fuel mileage it attained was 25mpg, and I loved it. I wish I could remember the year model.

I would drive it again, if I could.

Owner claims it has 40k miles on it, at which time the engine made un-toyota like noises and started producing chocolate milk the depths of the oil pan....sayonara. I just have no love for toyota products.

I posted about my son's 2016 tacoma with 113k miles, trade it in on a 2023 tundra hybrid(it's quick) he ended up getting $16.5 in the trade, the paint on roof and part of the hood was big time orange peel, interior with lots of wear and according to an indy garage needed $5k in suspension work(struts, shocks, cv joints). The thing is now listed on the dealer lot for $24k. I wouldn't pay $10k for it, it's insane what people pay, it does have kick *ass tires and wheels and runs decently but still $24k ? He found the bill of sale and paid $28k with 60k miles.

It’s just like a lot of other things, people pay for the name. They see Tacoma and think it’s worth more than it really is. People who sell older used ones also ask WAY too much for them. I saw an older one for sale on a local ad recently and it was beat to crap. Paint was chipping, it had dings and dents all over, the interior was weathered and worn out, who knows what other issues it had… The only nice thing about that truck were the aftermarket wheels and tires. He was asking $20k. In that condition, I wouldn’t pay $5k for it! People are out of their minds lol

I test drove one when I purchased my 2020 Ranger. Those seats were horrible! Interior felt cramped, and visibility seemed poor. The entire interior seemed awkward, and poorly designed.

They should fire the human factors design staff.
