I have a 2019 Ranger XLT SuperCab. Probably 3 out of 4 times that I start it up, it wants to update and asks if I want to connect to a WiFi network. I normally just connect to my phone hotspot. How do I know if it's actually updating? Seems pretty excessive asking to update multiple times a day. I saw an old TSB that mentioned this, from like March 2019, but I can't find any resolution to the problem that Ford might have come up with.

This drove me crazy as well. You need to turn off automatic updates.
Settings-> On the second page, Automatic System Updates-> turn the slider to off.
You can still manually update, I think. It just gets rid of that annoying pop-up appearing every time you start the truck.

Thanks. So I assume this is a problem, and it's not actually a valid need for update. I can understand maybe once a week, but not every day or multiple times a day. I'll just have to remember to let it update on the 1st of the month perhaps. I do believe in keeping things updated... I just wish they would give an update confirmation msg. I'll definitely go to manually updating. Thanks.

It's not necessarily asking to update, it's asking to check for updates. I'd hazard a guess that 99 times out of 100 there's no actual update, but it doesn't know that unless it checks. Not updating won't harm anything. I bought my truck in May 2019 and have never updated, it works perfectly fine.

Thanks. I figured it was something like that. I turned off automatic update and the annoying msg is gone.
