Lol, yes that was me! Wow, small world, but then again great minds think alike ?

and yup, Hot Pepper
Knowing that such tailgate lettering existed, let alone owning them, was a bit of a giveaway that you might be on here. :)

I just found this thread. I live up in God’s Country, on a lake, near Parry Sound. I purchased my 2020 Magnetic coloured XLT about one month ago from Barrie Ford. It comes with the Sports, Technology, Towing package, with the Electronic Locking Differential. I got the side step bars and the spray in bed liner.

The bed extender I ordered with it, is still coming. The molded mud flaps have arrived at the dealer, but are not on yet. I have ordered the Extang Trifecta Signature series 2.0 Tonneau cover, but they have to make it, so I am about 6 weeks at least from receiving it. I have Weathertech front mats and have ordered the rear Weathertech Mats after not finding anything good at Canadian Tire.

I am trying to get American Racing AR915 wheels as my winter rims. I love Toyo Observe winter tires and will definitely get them for this winter. I have a long, steep, gravel driveway, (see attached picture) and the Toyo’s on my former SUV, went up the driveway like it was summer. I am waiting to hear from OK tire if the rims and the tires are a good match.

Our leaves on the trees changed colour about two weeks ahead of last year. I hope that is not a sign of an early winter, as I would really like my tonneau cover before the snow flies.

Once Covid goes away, I would be interested in a Ranger gathering.

Welcome to the forum and 5g Ranger ownership!

Please let us know what you hear back on the tire/wheel combo, I’m still looking at getting snows for my ‘19. The stock Hancock’s were “ok” for me last winter. I’m in Mississauga but go up to the Ottawa Valley area usually twice in winter months.

I know the Toyo Observes Si 6 will fit on the Ranger, we will see if they fit on the wheels.
Prior to getting the Toyos, I always had Michelins or Blizzacks, but these are amazing.
Hopefully I will find out on a Monday.

I am typing this without glasses on the phone, so hopefully not too many spelling mistakes.

Lol, it’s all good! I’m too lazy to look, but I think we have some Michelin’s on the ‘17 Escape. Was thinking about Blizzaks for the Ranger until you brought up these Toyos. Now back to searching again!

Check out the Nokian Hakkapeliiitta R3 SUV. My go-to winter tire for driving in the mountains of Western Canada.

For the Ranger? or the Escape lol

edit: actually, I’ve heard good stuff on these Nokians. But they’re all-year tires no?

When I lived in Alberta, for most of Alberta (not the mountains), you wanted a good winter tire that was great for ice. We never got a lot of snow, but it was cold and all of the braking on what snow there was, created black ice. It seemed every intersection had black ice.

I could not find the Ranger on the list of Ford vehicles on the Nokian site for those tires.

I live in a snow belt. We do get some extreme cold and some ice, but snow traction is the primary feature I look for here, especially going up my driveway.

( I used to own a Ford Escape. I am pretty sure I was the first, certainly one of the first, to own one in Western Canada. For awhile I ran a Ford Escape forum) I loved the original Escape.)

Home Depot has a clearance on Ryobi 1600 psi Electric pressure washer. It has great reviews and all you need to clean your truck. Unfortunately they are all out around here, but maybe your Home Depot has 1 or 2 left.

The R3’s are the top rated winter tire in Western Canada and really grip the road. Especially nice in frosted asphalt and black ice. Cost is about $300 Cdn per tire.

I have 265/60 R18 on my 4x4 XLT Ranger from October- April. With plenty of mountain winter driving, I will also add about 200 lbs in the truck bed when conditions get really ugly.

I will have to learn about winter driving in a truck again. My last bunch of vehicles have all been AWD and my MDX was SHAWD and was pretty amazing in the snow, although was limited by it’s ground clearance.

I am not even sure when it is okay to switch into 4H. How much snow on the road is the trigger.

The trigger for me is when I feel the vehicle is no longer connected to the road and feels like it is starting to float.

So the guy I was dealing with at the local tire store, no longer works there, so I am sort of back to square one getting my snows and wheels for them.

I did speak to the owner and he came out and took pictures of my truck and using the barcode on the truck to acquired a bunch of truck and tire info. He pointed out different wheels in the lot, to see what I like. He says he has several options for wheels for me and also threw out the option of studded/studable tires for my winter tires.

I have never had studded tires. I know I love the Toyo Observes.

We will see what packages he comes up for me. I should hear back from him fairly soon.

So I ordered the American Racing AR915 winter wheels and the Toyo Observe Si6’s today. I get them installed on October 30th and will take pics then.

I did research the Nokian tires and they are excellent tires, but there are no local dealers (Kal Tire) in my area and theIr website did not offer up any matching wheels.

i will be extremely happy with the Toyo’s and the wheels will look far better than the steelies. The winter wheels are on your truck for 5+ months.

One thing about the AR915’s, you also have to order hub rings ($20) and different wheel nuts than the OEM ones.

Very nice look for the Ranger. I have used a open spoke wheel on my SUV's the past couple years. I was very frustrated with the wheels. We do a lot of back road driving and we get a lot of snow and blowing snow in my area. The open design allowed the snow to accumulate inside the wheel and cause a unbalance situation. I was for ever pulling over and trying to clean out the build up to allow me to drive at the posted speed with out my teeth chattering. This will be 1st winter in the Ranger and I just ordered a ugly steel wheel and hope this will not be an issue this winter.
