Did you try sand mode? Locker?

Aired down to 18, got a Fordpass alert for air press. I had traction, just tried to crawl out of 3 foot high wall tunnel to pass the stuck vehicles. Had to do 3 point turn between 8 foot wide walls. Was fun! Had help there at the ready.

Need better tires

Traction fine, need lift. Stock Hankooks had good traction in the silt with 18 psi.

HI Wil,

Looks like you encountered what we in off road racing called Poof Dirt. Talcum powder consistency that is hard to cross depending on how deep. You likely would have never made it unless you had very wide tires and crossed at an angle...problem is it is hard to recognize. Poof dirt has stranded many racers...aka Silt beds. Worst is when it crusts over... You walk on it and think...this is hard pack....but not really until you try your vehicle and it breaks through.

Was TOTALLY POOF DIRT! 10 foot visibility following Bison when I slowed to let dust settle. Could feel getting deeper and deeper and was starting to ride the center of the trail on my skid plates.

Was running with off road club I ran with 22 years ago with this lifted 32” Eddie Bauer Exploder. Dirt Devils in OC, great club!

Bring lots of water to pour under your tires. It hardens the sand!!! And you may need it to live!!

BTW you’re lucky it wasn’t a forest Ranger that pulled you out… huge ticket and an ass chewing..

Death Valley Nat’l Park super offroad friendly, no ass chewing! Unless you go off trail!

I want to hate those tire but i cant. I drove through Texas snowmageden with them going 70mph in 4wd on ice. I was forced to by the semi trucks going that speed. It was white knuckles. Those tires probably performed better than my BF km3s and lasted 50k. Still testing on ice, next 2 days ill know more.

He was definitely off trail.. doesn’t really bother me if he was. Just trying save him some cash and a hard day.
I’ve been doing DV for over 30 years. I can’t wait until it blooms here soon..

Rhyolite near Beatty is an interesting ghost town. The Atomic Inn in Beatty is a real throw back in time to stay the night, a lot of what seems like Russian people there. For a really weird overnight stay try the Amorgossa Opera house at the junction.. It’s all hot desert crap but fun nonetheless..
If you want to rock crawl nothing insane then go to the Alabama hills outside of Lone Pine before they close it down.. fun stuff!!
