OK, I am an old fart....help me out. Old but not stupid either:like:.
I have a Spotify account and songs downloaded.
I have a 2021 Ranger Tremor Lariat and I use an android phone. I believe I have Synch3.
HOW DO I PLAY SPOTIFY SONGS FROM MY PHONE IN MY RANGER?

Do I need a USB cable with Synch3? (My Bronco has Synch4 and I think on the Bronco it will be wireless).

So please help me rock out in my Ranger.
THANK YOU!!!

I have car play. As soon as I plug my phone in, it appears on the Sync screen. If I remember, the first time I had to open it on my phone but since then it appears automatically.

Yes you'll need the usb cable. Just plug it in and you'll switch over to android auto, and from there you can use spotify.

I'm also an Android user - I recommend you do it Via USB cable. I have this one. (Click blue text for Amazon link - the link was very long.) Here's the 5 foot version if you would like a longer cable.

You don't have to buy these cables - however - it is VERY important that you buy the proper "data" type cable otherwise you will not be able to access Android Auto. You will only be able to charge your phone.

When you plug in your phone you will be prompted to set up Android Auto for the first time on the Sync3 unit.

You will be able to access Spotify through this interface.

THE OTHER WAY to do it is to simply choose "bluetooth" via your radio source menu and connect your phone over bluetooth - and simply play Spotify on your phone.

I recommend the first method as it is much safer to operate your Spotify playlist with the radio head unit instead of using your phone. Not only would you have to use your phone to control the radio with bluetooth - it drains your battery. The first method is plugged in and maintains if not charges your phone battery.

The first time I tried to connect mine I had a crap cable and it would only charge.

Then more recently I had a cheap data cable go bad.

It's sorta picky for sure.

That cable will fit the Android phone? Thanks for all of that information!

Yep! One end is USB-C But it's at a right-angle which makes plugging into your phone while it's laying in the USB tray much more "ergonomic". The other end is USB-A for plugging into the truck. I use the shorter 1.5 foot one I linked but I also linked the longer 5 foot version. The 1.5 foot is a little snug but I like that. Cheers!

The key that I discovered is that the car play will nearly never know what you want to do, so you have to select it on the truck screen. I used both. Wake and Goggle, and if the last time I used Goggle, and I have Waze on my phone, it still shows Goggle. So I have to switch to Waze on the truck screen. Took me nearly a month to figure that ouT!!!

Go to your settings on your phone and turn on bluetooth. You can use this method if you don't want to use a cable.

As everyone else said just plug it in and android auto will display and you can select Spotify on the screen. One thing that has made my life easier is I bought a 1ft cable (vs standard 3 or 6) it makes my phone fit in the cubby much easier. For cables I recommend the anker brand. They have a good return policy if they stop working. Only downside is you can’t use pick up and use the phone while plugged in, but I don’t do that while driving anyway so it’s not a big deal.
