silver on fx4 valance

so i have a paint defect in my silver lower valance. since a new one has to be painted, i may just wrap this one. if i did that- any idea what a close match to the factory silver would be?

other idea- go black on that and skid.

i was advised against wrap since the vinyl may not take kindly to rock chips and debris.

i went ahead with removing the out of place silver look and just did plastidip in dark grey. it looks better now in my opinion, and any rock chips....just hit it again with the spray.

ok, good to know. maybe i’ll just get a black one. then again dings will never show up ha. not sure how it would look with a silver skid

I had to replace the lower grille insert due to an icy road incident. While having the lower valance off to do this I rattle canned the valance in satin black. Matches the grille insert and I really like the look better than the silver. Left the skid silver, it doesn’t show that much. I know some have done their skids with bed liner paint for more durability. I don’t offroad so the I used a good paint for plastic and it has held up OK, just a couple minor chips I could touch up if they bothered too much.

I'll try to remember to get pictures the next time I get the truck out.

OK, finally remembered to get a picture with black valance. Not sure, but i think the Blackout package and maybe the Temor come with a black valance. So maybe get ahold of Benny at Levettown and have get you the right numbers. Like I said the skid plate doesn't bother me as much as the valance did

so i am going to play with some wrap. i found a dead on match, oracal matte silver grey metallic. says it’s tough. we will see.

apparently whatever solvent splashed on the valance essentially ruined it and two body shops said that the solvent probably attack the plastic too, so a new valance and paint would be in order. so…13.50 for wrap, or 375 for a new painted one.
the wrap is cheap enough to do its job until i want to replace it.

first try i messed up, second try i got it right. the silver is a dead on match.
i have a new one coming incase this doesn’t hold up. We used to wrap tacoma bumpers all the time and never had an issue with rock strikes, so we will see!
way cheaper than paint!

Will be installing soon and painting my skidplate satin black as well. Will also have to paint my sensors with a light coat as well.
