Got rid of the gray/silver valance (plasti dip) and changed out the tow hooks for a shackle conversion from rough country.
Only thing I’m wondering is if I should add color to the shackles. I’ve pretty much blacked out everything on the outside (with exception of not yet smoking the taillights yet) so not sure if I should add a color or not. Thoughts?

If you could get something close to body color; I think that would look pretty sweet.

I was thinking that as well. Wasn’t sure if I should add a completely different color just for pop or go clean with the (close to) saber.

Did you coat over the sensors or replace with black?

Light coat?

I get maybe the shackles are a cosmetic thing for some, and that's fine if you like that.

But can someone explain why I would want shackles over tow hooks for actual recovery scenarios? There are all kinds of connectors out there, so does one recovery method have an advantage over the other?

Also, it seems if you are going to use shackles for recovery that you should probably use *soft* shackles for added safety. Many YT videos on the subject, a lot of those from Ausies who know a thing or two about recovery.

My [limited] understanding is that the difference maker would be the load rating and bracket used. So depends on those things as far as what makes one better than the other for towing/recovery I believe? Otherwise, it’s just cosmetic.

Care to detail the steps of the install? I'm curious what all is involved.

For the tow hooks I actually used this exact video from stage 3 motorsports as my general guide for it!

For the valance I had installed the lower grille insert a while back and that’s how I knew how to remove it. The first 2 1/2 minutes of this video shows exactly how to do that.

From there I just used a few coats of plasti dip spray.
