Yay!
1. I'm old it helps me in and out.
2. I'm 5'10" and I can just slide out. But the edge of my seat won't last long.
3. It helps block car doors when that jerk opens one on you.
Yep. I have the Ford optional ones.
I use them to get in so that I am not torquing on the steering wheel as much (I bent the shit out of my Ram wheel).
I use them to get out so that I don't have to drop on a surgically repaired foot.
I use them to get out to keep from getting rocker panel crud on the back of my legs.
I use them to get in and out to try and save the edge of the seat (I destroyed my Ram seat this way).
I like the way they look.

After all that, I wish I had the ones like @OxyGenIII because they look so %$#@&*! cool.

From an appearance standpoint, I think most are a very slight negative. While I'm not exactly a prototypical basketball player at 5'8", I still don't need them to get in/out of my truck. Thus, I bought my truck without them...

...And then I ended up adding them afterward because my 5'1" wife and even shorter kids were having trouble hopping in and out.

I think they're worth it. I'm 6'1" and use them so I don't wear out the seat cushion getting in and out. Fiance is 5'3" and she has to use them regardless lol.

I do plan on either grabbing some Tremor sidesteps or the ADD Lite Side Steps down the road though.

They weren't a priority item for me when I bought the truck, but they were on the truck I bought. 5'3 wife strongly prefers having them. I'm 5'8 and they've definitely grown on me for helping me to reach onto the roof and windshield and to save wear on the sides of my seat. My dog also uses them to get into the truck.

I will probably change the Ford ones out for something else eventually, though.

In wintertime, I don't like how ice will collect on them and cover up the traction bits. Not exactly easy to get it off, either. I also don't like how mud collects on them after driving even a short bit in the mud. Would prefer something that doesn't collect ice/snow/mud and that offers better traction.

I don't really need rock sliders, but the shrockworks sliders with tread look like they might do the job.

I have side steps. I, personally, don't like the OEM sidesteps (Tremor ones are pretty nice, though) so I went with aftermarket. I'm 6'1" and don't need them personally. My wife is shorter, so she likes them and it helps her whenever she's the one to strap the kiddo into his car seat. They're also helpful when washing the truck to access the roof. Good luck!

Yes and No on steps! I am 6' so I just hit my shins on them, My wife is 5' 1" so she needs the step. My solution was NFab rock sliders with removeable steps. I put the step on the passenger side only. I remove them for when I go on a serious 4x4 trip.

I personally say yay. I really like the look of them on my Ranger. I’m 6’3” and my wife is 5’4”ish. I personally don’t need to use them to get in the truck but I wanted something for the wife to give her a little boost. I got mine on Amazon from Tyger and for $169+tax I couldn’t pass them up.

Hi Terry,

I was opposed to these until we developed the Ranger Edge. Step bars were part of the Edge package. Edge was a 4x2 on a 4x4 frame, so there was a step height concern which we resolved with step bars. I grew to like them and my 2019 Ranger has the factory chrome ones. Wife loves them as at 5' 1", she loves them.

I have them. I don't use them. When I do then I have to duck down to get in the truck....however....my 4ft 10" wife loves them!
