I just purchased a 2020 Ford Ranger and I'd like to have SiriusXM Satellite radio. I explored the dashboard display and my vehicle has SYNC 3.4 software installed. I could not find SiriusXM on any menu. The vehicle came with a small antenna in the glove box. It fits into a socket on the roof. Is that a satellite antenna? It sure looks like one.

How would I know if my Ranger has a satellite radio already installed? Or do all Rangers have them? What would I need to do to be able to listen to SiriusXM?

Install the antenna (which should have been done prior to delivery to you)

Select Audio from your Sync screen (should be lower left bottom row on your Sync screen)

Top left corner should be “Sources”, select that

You should see AM, FM, Sirius, and if you have any devices like phones or iPods connected via Bluetooth they’ll also pop up.

Select Sirius and you should be good to go.

You should have like 3 months free (minimum) if you just bought from a dealer.

I don't understand. My screen is not a touchscreen. I have 8 physical buttons on the left side of the screen (two columns of 4). I have 12 physical buttons on the right side of the screen (2 columns). One of those buttons brings up radio sources. The screen then displays AM, FM1, and FM2.

Do I have a different radio/screen than you?

I think the base XL's only come with an AM/FM radio. Could be wrong though.

You don't.
It would have scrolled through when you were cycling the am, fm1, fm2 with the music looking button.

If it is anything like an F150, it involves changing out the entire radio, and quickly becomes cost intensive. Best suggestion would be just to get an aftermarket Sirius radio and a car mounting kit.

In Interior section. You have an XL correct?

EDIT: nvm you have to have an xl. In 2020 xlts the sync 3 was standard (touch screen).

My window sticker does claim XL, and then later "XL SERIES" under the equipment group. That means I have an XL, I think.

You might want to check into IHeart radio or pandora if your vehicle is capable. Doesn't cost any thing and runs through your cell phone to your vehicle radio.

Thanks, but iHeart and Pandora are not an option. I want SiriusXM. One option would be remove the current radio and install a satellite radio. What would the other options be? An external SiriusXM receiver maybe? Has anyone done that before?

Did you buy the truck new? The reason I ask is because I have seen where people have changed the antenna out and disabled Sirius with forscan. If it was used then this is a possibility. If new, then I agree with others about an add on radio. I think the cost for a new head unit is around $1000 from an after market seller. Not sure what Ford charges.

You can buy an external receiver. An easier way is to use the Sirius XM app on your phone and connect it to your radio in the truck via bluetooth.

It doesn't look like the base stereo supports Apple car play or Android auto, so you would have to control it from your phone. I use the app via AA in my Mustang and it works well most of the time. It's not as convenient as built in, but I only have 1 subscription (Ranger) and can listen to SiriusAM in both vehicles this way.

I don't have a smart phone. So, those kinds of solutions won't work for me.

The ideal solution would allow me to control the SiriusXM stations from the buttons on the steering wheel.

I looked over the option packages thouroughly on the Ford website. What option includes the satellite radio?
