Sanctioned extended licenses?

Am I too late? Procrastinated too long on buying my cable to make some general changes to my new Ranger with it. Now, I’m finding out that due to the Russian war, purchase of the extended license has been halted because of sanctions. Do I need the extended license to do general stuff on my Ranger? After I buy my cable, is it just download and use? I keep seeing the 2 month free trial. Free trial for what? What does it cost to use the cable? I have a VAG for VW’s but this setup is new to me. I’m not sure where to look for info.

I stand with Ukraine but also feel bad for the every day Russian who just wants to live life and code our setting changes... Among other things.

The extended license unlocks certain features. You should be able to do everything you want with the 2 month trial license. Some just keep getting a new 2 month trial to keep going.

Before you do anything with it. Watch some YouTube videos on how to use it and backup all your factory modules and label files so you know exactly what they are. Then make changes and save. If anything goes wrong you can reload factory and try again.

I just got a new 2 month license to make changes on my new ranger. This makes my 3rd one. First two were in 2020. You can get as many 2 months as you want

I saw the other thread about the sanctions....would that only apply to Russia?

I did some digging around on the Internet because I know nothing about FORScan and who sells the licenses but was curious. The best I could find was anecdotal evidence on a few other forums saying the origin and the company selling the licenses is from Russia.

But I will note a significant part of their forum is dedicated to the Russian language so it seems there may be some connection there:

The forscan.org whois shows a domain registrar in Texas but that does not really mean anything. However, given the fact it seems they can no longer bill customers I'm guessing at least the commercial part is indeed based in Russia.

Just checked my installed version copyright is Alex Savin. It appears that my license is still intact. I have a lifetime license because I have like 6 different Fords on this copy. So for now my laptop is what it lives on permanently.

I actually have a Obdlink EX in route to do the ABS brake fix. I have to admit that I have some apprehension in downloading software from Russia at the moment. Don’t want a virus. ?
