Hey everyone

My wife and I want to get an rv for the ranger to pull. I would like to hear y’all’s recommendations. Preferably something with a bunkhouse as we have 2 small kids.

Also what’s everyone’s setup?

Hey, Jeremy. I don't have much of a recommendation for ya but our family is in a similar situation as y'all. We're looking to get a TT for our family as well.

Anyway, we've limited our list to 3-4 different RV's. Top of the list is a Keystone Bullet 2200bh. It's a 21' box and a 25 trailer hitch to bumper. All the numbers technically work (it's 4,126lbs dry and we don't plan on loading any more than 1,200lbs of cargo including water). So, that brings it in at ~5,500lbs.

I'm not so worries about the weight, I'm just curious on how others have experienced something of similar size (i.e. a 21' box on a 25' box).

I've done a ton of research to make sure that the numbers work. But I don't have real-world experience. We've rented a smaller TT than the one we want and are set to take it out this summer on a test run. The rental is a Wolf Pup 16fq. It comes in on the smaller end of trailers and I think will give us a good frame of reference for when we are actually ready to sign for a TT of our own.

Good luck!

My wife and I have the Wolf Pup 16FQ at the top of our list. They have other models with bunks around the same size (16-18' interior, 21-23' overall).

Yeah. We're pretty set on getting an aluminum frame model. I think Wolf Pup calls those the "Black Label" line. They're on our list as well. Their only downside is the smaller fresh water tank. The Coachmen Apex line and the Keystone Bullets have large fresh water tanks, which we like.

R-Pods are also at the top of our list. They have the nicer fiberglass walls, but are kinda small for more than a couple.

They've got the 193, which is a bunkhouse model. The bunks are the narrower bunks but perfectly fine for kids. I'd prefer the larger bunks rated at 300lbs that a, say, Keystone Bullet 2200bh has. The Keystone is also up on our list, but I need to rent something similar in size to see if it's doable. The numbers work on paper, but I want to make sure that I'd be able to tow a 21' box comfortably and with enough stopping power before we sign for one.

I recommend modern models like Mercedes Sprinter 2020, very advanced technologies. Or Vauxhall Movano, Ford Transit
Your recommending class b/ class c motorhomes that go over $100,000. These members are looking for travel trailers/campers that can be towed by their Rangers.

Almost certainly a "one and done" spammer.

We just started looking into getting a TT also. I'm still not sure if we're going to get one now or in a couple years. I've narrowed it down to either the Rockwood Mini Lite or the Grand Design Image. Jayco is also another good manufacturer to look at. We're looking at non bunk models but they both have ones with them. I'm trying to to find some particular ones in my area but there's none in stock right now (crazy demand) but from all the reading I've done and videos I've seen these are two really good ones. We did get to see several different ones just to get an idea of size and layout which I recommend you do. They're so much different in person than on video/pictures.

I do like the way these are aluminum framed and the bed frame and dinettes have aluminum reenforcement. Those 3 seem to give you a lot of little extras for not a lot more money. Unless you get into the really high end ones these are all built pretty cheap compared to residential homes. Just keep in mind there's usually quiet a bit of maintenance that goes along with these and it's best if you're handy as the dealer service centers are backed up now. I've read where some have had to wait several months just to get theirs looked at and several more months after for certain parts. Just things to keep in mind so there's no surprises later.

I have been sold on the Rockwood quality since owning our GeoPro 19BH....which I FULLY recommend except you do not want a bunk house. They have smaller ones too though but I think they shine in the 19BH and 20BHS. The Mini Lite is their big brother series. The Ranger tows the 19BH very effortlessly but our next trailer in a few years I want to cap at about 24ft/5000lb range. I think over that it is possible as seen in the towing section but for our region, I want to stay well within the range due to cross winds, hills, summer temps, etc.

Check out this channel for good info....

Thanks Anthony. I think I've watch just about every one of Josh's videos, he does a really good job going through everything. The Geo Pro was one of the first TT I saw online and liked it. It's just a little to small for our liking as we plan/hope to use it for long periods on the road. My goal is to get out of here for a good portion of the summer and don't want to fell like I'm cramped in a shoe box. lol

Like you I want to stay around 25' and around 5000lbs =/- dry and so far these are my favorites. The Rockwood 2205s and the Grand Design 22MLE. The Grand Design has both a dinette and theater seats where the 2205s only has theater seats and a pull up table. Steve @Grumpaw made a good point that without the dinette you're limiting yourself to just the recliners. Not bad when the weathers nice but if you run into long periods of bad weather you have no separation inside. I still want to see both of the models and hoping some roll in soon.

The best advice I can give you would be too simply google up the individual rv owners group your interested in...
Rockwood falls under Forrest River Owners Group with a seperate list for the Rockwood.
Grand Design has it's own owners forums.
Just browse thru them and you will get ton's of info.
Just like the Ranger forums, its a valuable source of info, and you will get specific info from actual owners....they WILL give you the straight poop on almost any rig your interested in.
And, from long experience, do your homework on any rig your thinking about buying....if your not happy with your choice after a short period and decide to sell/trade, you will lose at least 25% of it's value, even after only a month. No other vehicle or transport mode depreciates faster than an rv. especially trailers.

Our Jayco should be in sometime in late Oct or early Nov, and I will happily give an honest evaluation of it, it's size/weight and the Rangers ability to safety tow it.
