So after cutting out my crash bars I've noticed some surface rust in a few spots. I guess in my haste of trying to get the job done and get out of the shop, I (stupidly) neglected to clean dust the cutting wheel created from the area which turned in to some caked on surface rust. Can anyone recommend a product to help remove it? TIA.

Been using Ospho for decades. Turns surface rust hard and you can paint over it.
One of the first rust "dissolvers" formulated for military applications many many many years ago.
Brush off loose rust, apply Ospho, let dry, paint.

So is Ospho like Naval Jelly? Been using that for about 30 years now. Seems like it has gotten weaker over the years though "meaning the newer stuff".

they used to make a product called OSPHO, we painted rusty boat trailers with it and it turned the rust black and a permanent black finish.
Edit:
( I didn’t see the above ospho thread.
naval jelly will just strip it down to bare metal along with some of the paint. No protection.) I forgot about Corroseal. They use that on Hot Rod Garage.

Reminds me of a incident that happened in the USMC. A couple buddies decided to use Naval Jelly to clean their M-16. It took all the blueing off the rifle. Guys thought they were going to prison.
Yeah, I ruined an old .22 rifle like that !:)
