Im looking for rock rails like the Rubicon comes with now. Yes I want a piece of metal that attaches to my pinch weld. I have jeep friends who actually use them with zero damage. But thats not the point. I do minor wheeling, it is a brand new truck after all. Just want some rock chip protection and have it there just in case.

Many moons ago I mounted 2"x3" square steel tubing to my pinch weld after high centering once and slightly denting the rocker panel. 1995 Eddie Bauer Explorer 4x4 with 3" Dick Cepek lift.

It worked very well on many rock crawling runs. They were scraped like crazy on the bottom but protected the paint!

Go for it!

Not a bad idea I like it. Subtle enough but does its job.

Shrockworks makes probably the best slider available for the Ranger. They mount to the frame, not the body, so should be stronger than what you're describing. I dragged them across a huge rock hidden in three foot deep snow last weekend. No damage to slider or vehicle.

I bounced off of those rails many times on rocks and dirt. Maybe find stronger, but they were fully effective, and square steel tubing is very cost effective.

Depends your budget and skills.

i like those a lot, probably the only ones I would consider. But I want something less obtrusive honestly. That is why I am looking for something smaller. Guess ill fab my own up this winter.
