Removing the tailgate cap? Does it just pop off or is it taped?

Simple question? Does anyone know how to remove the factory tailgate cap? Apparently some Rangers don't have them, but mine does and I need to know how it's attached to the tailgate and hopefully how easy it's unattached?

It literally snaps on quickly, But that's at the factory. To remove it you will definitely be breaking clips. But here's what I would do, Remove the access panel to see the otherside of it and use a 10 mm socket to squeeze the Clips together and push up.

Oh, that's all? Cool! Thanks for the help! I'm not planning on reusing it, as I'm installing an Air Design Spoiler. I would've done it today, since it was warm enough here, but I couldn't figure out haw to take the silly thing off....

doesnt the air design spoiler go over it?
It doesn't look like it. They have one video on YouTube that I've found and it doesn't have a cap at all... They're directions are about piss poor pathetic, they don't say anything about removing the old one or leaving it on. I thought about leaving it, but like I mentioned, that one video doesn't have an OEM cap at all...

Video I was talking about... It's a global Ranger video, but I thought all the Rangers had that tailgate cap on them? I thought the only differences were the fenders/front end between Global and US versions?

i dont know. never installed one.
but i see the promo video for the NA Ranger and you can see what looks like the plastic cap still installed.

I would refrain from ripping the cap off until you're ready to install it and test fit it first and see what fits.

Oh? Hmmm? I do see that now! It's so hard to get ahold of anyone at Air Design that actually knows something. The last 2 times I called them, I had to talk to their very rude, I guess, receptionist? The time before that, I believe it was one of the guys in charge. I assumed it went on the existing cap as well....

I'll attempt to call them today?

Thanks for spotting that!

Alright, it's been confirmed! It DOES go over the existing cap. It's been too cold to mess with it most of this past 5 days off, but once I took it out of the box and laid it on my tailgate, it's apparent!

I did, however, call Air Design today and what they told me really doesn't surprise me one bit, LOL! They said they didn't know how to install it....

They gave me the number for Billy, the guy that installs their parts on other peoples' vehicles though. I called him and he confirmed how to install it :) That's good to know, so maybe I can get it installed this weekend.

Here it is, just sitting on my truck.
