removing rear bumper

Recently got rear ended and am replacing the factory rear bumper with a Hooke Road bumper.
Has anyone removed their old bumper? and were you able to replace your towing package?

I believe it was held by 3 bolts down each side.

Disconnect the wiring harness at the truck side (mine has the sensors).

Hitch is heavy so support it with a jack or jackstands.

My aftermarket rear bumper used the "skeleton" of the factory bumper so everything fit perfectly.

Gonna replace my bumper with one like yours. How did you resolve the hitch issue?

When we installed it we had some issues but we actually cut the factory bumper leaving the hitch. Grinded off and painted it. Then WITH A FEW EXTRA HANDS held the new bumper up first then what was left of the old bumper and attached the bolts. We did use some shims on the back bolts to tilt the bumper a tad downhill as the hitch will hit the new bumper. You could notch it but we went the metal shim way. I'm cheap that's what we did but i bet you can purchase a new hitch. if you need more photos let me know , i just took a couple quick shots of underneath.

Great idea. I’ve been trying to figure out what I should do about the hitch issue and hoped to find an option that would allow me to keep my current one. Thank you for your prompt response and the photos!
