Few good memories there! First is even at home everyone was dressed in their best and guys had a tie on. I remember as a kid going downtown and all the men wore hats and had suit coats and ties on.At least they had a dial to work with.

Then the dial phones. We were on a party line for a while so remember people breaking into your calls or you doing that to them. Neighbors always knew who it was too! Things were so much simpler then and people were civil too. My dad fought with the telephone company to keep his dial phone. Didn’t want the new push button style ones. Remember when phone numbers had the first 2 letters instead of numbers. Think they did that to know what switch house your phone was connected to

What was worse was when you were waiting for a phone call and you mom or sister were on it. They'd be talking for hours and we didn't have call waiting or caller ID.Few good memories there! These are not past, but present. On small scale lumberworks, like thinning with ATV+timber trailer these are pretty common sight. Usually used for only on the tight spots, water crossing and swamps.Hi Folks,
Ever hear of Corduroy Roads?

A corduroy road or log road is a type of road or timber trackway made by placing logs, perpendicular to the direction of the road over a low or swampy area. The result is an improvement over impassable mud or dirt roads, yet rough in the best of conditions and a hazard to horses due to shifting loose logs.
Best,
Phil
Hey hey! You should have at least put those behind a spoiler alert. Some people will be sitting down to a nice dinner tonight and may not be able to unsee that. What was worse was when you were waiting for a phone call and you mom or sister were on it. Yes everyone dressed nice back then not like today when they're to lazy to even change out of their pj's. I remember flying and most men were in suites and the women in either a dress or a nice pants suite. Now you see them bording with their pants down to their thigh and their boxers hanging out. ? Oh, there was even smoking allowed on the airplane. I mean what could go wrong with 100's of people smoking in an enclosed tube filled with jet fuel.Nothing ever did but being a non smoker I'm glad they don't allow this now.
Speaking of dressing up to go shopping.

This is what Walmart did to our country. Luckily we didn't have Walmart in the north until the late 90s. You wouldn't dress like that for a trip to Sears Roebuck, Montgomery Wards, or WoolworthsWhat was worse was when you were waiting for a phone call and you mom or sister were on it. I think that was the same time frame for us in WMA. I remember seeing them in FL when we travel down there but didn't know much about them until they started popping up everywhere by us. Honestly they were one of the worst things that happened to our country along with al the other big box stores. I'm all for have a few here and there but they killed the small business owner. This is what Walmart did to our country. Luckily we didn't have Walmart in the north until the late 90s. Paul Revere Dick was born just north of us 6 miles in Harvard, NE.Anyone on here remember these guys, Paul Revere and the Raiders, recall them playing "Where the action is" as they waded into the surf on that TV show "Where the action is" (oh baby c'mon, oh baby c'mon) . My favorite song from them was "Cherokee Nation" clever lyrics and all, but reading the differing perspectives on another EV debate, some updated lyrics to Cherokee Nation popped into my head, sadly I recall the band's founder and namesake passed away some yrs ago., I know I should be listening to XMas tunes. And in line with the rememberances - how about those TV shows like Shindig, Where the action is, Hullabaloo, Bandwagon, etc
We took the whole ice nation
Banned their sales via legislation
Took away the fumes and gas
made fossil fuels a thing of the past
We failed to increase electrical generation
Brought the power grid to ruination
Now we live our lives in the dark
And find our EVs must be parked
Maybe someday when we learned
ICE vehicles will return, will return, will return, will return
