? Warning ?

This post contains acts of childish behavior. Stop here if you're gonna be a bitch about it. ?

? You Were Warned ?

I regret to inform that I allowed rage to enter the picture tonight.

I just finished a late night truck bath. ? I dried off my windows, sensors, and backup camera before running it up to @ 65 mph on an access road to "air dry" the rest ? so,,, I cross the intersection under the expressway and turn left onto the access road.

The far left lane (where I am) is a dedicated left turn lane that bypasses the lights at the intersection. It's basically for doing a U-turn under the expreway without having to wait at the light. BTW,,, traffic going my direct had the green light anyhow. The far left lane merges into the center lane (3 lanes down to 2). As I begin to accelerate,,, some absolute dipshit runs the light at the intersection at 90 mph (guessing) in the same center lane that I'm already merging into. Strike 1. Then,,, dipshit wouldn't let me merge (the right lane was completely vacant but he wasn't gonna budge) and almost took out my right front tire forcing me to stab the brakes. Strike 2. And finally,,, as I'm about to drive around him, in the right lane, he decides to slice me off (sans blinker) when my left front tire was at his rear passenger door handle. Thus, forcing me to go "full panic lockup" with both feet on the brake combined with a serve to the curb (near miss). Strike 3. For a moment,,, I thought he had rubbed me but I had a solid ÂĽ inch to spare.

That was the moment my B/P began to elevate and I asked Buddah to look the other way for a minute. So, I casually placed myself 10 feet behind him and initiated an "Off Road Light Test".

Initial Results:
5 seconds and 61,000Lm ? later and,,, dipshit started driving like a responsible citizen again. ? Who knew that 61,000 Lm in your mirrors has a calming effect ??? This was an unexpected result.

I decided to maintain my 10 foot follow distance up the onramp and onto the expressway... for about ½ mile (to the next off ramp) just to make sure he was gonna continue to behave. To my utter amazement, he continued to drive normally. The lights functioned wonderfully. As I'm sure my new friend, Mr. Dipshit, can confirm. I honestly believe that he thought he had F'd up in front of a cop and was waiting for the red/blue flashers to come on... ? Who knows/cares ?

My only complaint:
The lights do vibrate a LOT at highway speeds due to my flimsy $28 Amazon brackets... who would've thunk they'd be weak ? ?‍♂ Fortunately,,, my "thicker" Diode Dynamics brackets arrived so that should eliminate the vibration... once I cut'm up and reweld them.

Final Conclusion:
While I would have preferred a roadside brawl finishing with me poking him in the eye with a 4 foot hog spear,,, the value of scientific results consumed my rage. I left the whole incident quite pleased.
1) Although the lights vibrate too much, I have the solution sitting in my garage.
2) The lights are very, Very, VERY bright.
3) Blasting some A-hole 'can' potentially make them drive better.
4) Unforseen Benefit: I enjoyed it immensely ?

On a similar note:
I followed my neighbor home the other night. I gave him a 3 second blast when we pulled onto our home street. He called me before we even got to our garages to say, "Turn that F'ing shit off !!!" He felt as thought they were "blinding",,, whatever that means.

Foglights do not blink and kind of break the looks.

And you need roof high beams (which would be excellent in snow conditions where the road plough makes high snow walls, as they will give you area light outside the road tunnel and you'll catch the sneaky deer or moose who is planning to commit suicide by car).

I don't think snow is gonna be a problem for me. I've seen it once in the past 18 years.

DUDE THAT WAS YOU!!!!! I HAD SOME JERK LIGHT ME UP ON THE EXPRESSWAY, I WAS ONLY DOING 35MPH!!

jk

THAT WAS YOU ???
How did that make your eyes feel ?
?

I had to check my wheels and fender flairs when I got home. That Dumfaq nearly rubbed both sides of my truck last night.

I have no problem with people that drive fast. I do it frequently. My only expectation with speeding/speeders is that you don't place others in harms way. I personally don't believe that speed limits should exist.

But,,, driving like a reckless asshole on meth is gonna earn a response on my part. I have 4 ways I can respond while in my truck and trust me when I say, bright lights are Defcon 4. Things escalate from there. I would have certainly gone Defcon 3 if that little shithead HAD made contact last night. Possibly,,, Defcon 2 (which involves cutting).

I was just checking out a set of 8" bars that mount inside the cab near the top of the glass just above the rear view mirror with blue/red flashers. And I could easily wire in a monetary marine horn for a 0.2 sec burst.

OR... I could replace my 7" bumper LEDs for these. I'm in love ❤

....not that I would ever actually consider doing such a thing ?

Ok, so the turn signal ditch lights is cooler than I thought. I was thinking the other day I should try LED turn signals because a few times people seem to not realize I am turning. The OEM XLT ones are kinda hard to spot, giving people the benefit of the doubt that they are not dummies though.

I wasn't 100% sure I was gonna like those 5" lights on the hood in place of my dual 4" light rigs. But since it's @ 3½X's more powerful,,, I'm good with it.

The DRLs w/ Turn Signals were the wild card. Since installing them and getting the aim correct,,, I love them.

Once I get my dual fog light brackets I'll have a 4" LED placed on the outside that also has the DRL / Turn Signal feature. Plus a pair 6-Mode LEDs mounted at the inside location. And,,, I re-tuned the light covers. Can't wait to see all 6 covers on at the same time.

Was it a forum member that was making those dual fog brackets? Forgot where I saw them.

I have the Squadron Sports in the lower grill. Will put the pair I have for ditch lights but what bugs me is they have the round trim as they were fogs on our old Pilot.

If the mix n match look bugs me enough I might try the Auxbeam 2 LED pods that are similar to the Baja Design S2 Sport. I would prefer to stick with Baja Design but $240 for the S2 Sport I might as well get the 4 LED Squadron Sport but since their customer support never responded to me (twice), I don't want to give them any more of my money.

I am hoping the round design will look ok on the ditch light position. You can see what I mean at their page, square and round ones

That, could get you in trouble...unless you have authorization...I have a siren in my horn/PA system but I never touch the siren lol...

Any blue lights on civilian vehicles is a no no...that includes red up front...

Back in my LEO days, I had 2 occasions of stopping a civilian with red and blue lights mounted on front and back of vehicles, and in use. One claimed he was a private security guard and vehicle was his employers...he was lying. Both got arrested for impersonating a PO, vehicles were impounded.
Both found guilty and vehicles were NEVER returned.....:like:
