So I’m getting a vibration randomly on the interstate. Seems like it manly happens around 60-70. Sometimes it’s smooth sometimes not. I have noticed if I put it in neutral it still does it. So that should eliminate trans/converter shutter. I’ve noticed a clunk coming to a stop. Don’t know if that’s related or not. Wheels and tires just balanced didn’t help. Any thoughts? Driveshaft? On and off miss fire? I have no idea

You might want to have a four wheel alignment done, including a thrust angle alignment. It could also be a bent rear axle or even a bent rotor not allowing the wheel to seat properly.

And, yes, it could just be the dreaded 2-pce drive shaft shimmy.

Good luck.

How many miles on your tires? If you didn’t get a road-force balance, I would do that.

Tires are new. I probably should go ahead and do that anyways tho.

I had similar symptoms at primarily low speeds (under 25) but also around 60 as well. TSB 23-2251 helped, but didn’t fully eliminate the problem. I suspect a few more shims would have fully resolved it.

Did this first start after the new tires? Is so, that’s most likely your issue. Road force balancing may fix it, or will at least identify if you have an out of spec tire.

Did you just get this truck, or did you buy it new in 2019?
Some Rangers have vibrations at speed due to drive shaft imbalance.

Just got the truck. Had the new tires on it when I picked it up.

The thing on the right...will eliminate both the clunk and highway speed vibration...
Tom Woods one piece drive shaft...

Been looking into this. Definitely has to be worth the $700

Truck being 2019, I figured warranty done...for just a little more $$ you can replace the OEM with the one peice... I went thru several shimming episodes with my 2 pc. , never did eliminate the highway speed vibrations....when my Carrier bearing started to fail , it was an easy choice to go 1 pc...

I had a similar issue intermittently around 55-60 mph and it ended up being a bad driveshaft carrier bearing and u joint. Eventually it got so bad it would start at 20-25 mph and was causing a loud resonance throughout the cab.

Well guys I had the road force balancing done. And every wheel was off some. It helped forsure but I still have interstate vibrations so I’m really considering ordering the Tom Woods shafts.
