Hi Everyone and Anyone Who Reads This,
My apologies for posting an MKX question on the Ranger forum, but since it's a Ford and there are so many very knowledgeable people here, I figured I'd ask in the General area.
Last week I replaced the (internal) water pump on my 2014 Lincoln MKX (3.7L Cyclone V6) and that was a massively large job. I've been pretty proud of myself, though I'm also at the same time a little nervous each time I drive it now that I may have screwed something up since that was such a large undertaking. Well today, as I was driving along, the dashboard told me to Check Charging System. When I got home, I hooked up Forscan, and found it threw a P0625 - Generator Field/F Terminal Circuit Low code. It also threw P065B - Generator 'A' Control Circuit Range/Performance.
I checked battery voltage with a multimeter with the engine running and it came up at 11.5 volts. That's low.
Might anyone know if this is most likely a problem with the alternator?
I did change the drive belt and tensioner when I had everything apart. The car has 96,000 miles on it, and the belt and tensioner had not been previously changed. I also might have spilled a little oil on the alternator when I was topping off.
Or does this code indicate something else that I'm missing entirely? I remember reading something about the Rangers turning their alternators off and on for fuel savings, but I doubt this car does that. Or might it?
Thanks for any help anyone might have,
Justin
