Hey all, currently making the drive from Indiana to MT and while driving through eastern ND on I-94 I had these codes pop up and lost boost with the orange wrench coming up on the dash. Was running the 87-89 Livernois tune and pulled over and cleared the codes only for them to come up again abut a half hour later. Ended up pulling over again and flashing the stock tune back to ultimately have it comeback about 10 minutes of driving on stock so limped it for roughly an hour to Bismarck. This is the coldest weather I've driven it in with the truck saying anywhere from -15 to -20 for the last few hours when these came up so is it possible that could be a reason these were being thrown and it not producing the requested boost? Had the P0299 thrown once over a year ago driving down the road during the summer whle aslo running the Livernois tune at that time but cleared it and had no problems till now. The only other thing done to the truck is an MBRP catback exhaust thats has been installed for a couple months but I received the P0299 code even with the factory exhaust and I didn't receive the U0422 code the previous time and the P0068 only came up after flashing the stock tune today.

P0068 - MAP/MAF - throttle position correlation
P0299 - Turbocharger underboost condition
U0422 - Invalid data received from body control module

Sent them something already, thanks for the quick reply though. Kinda hoping its somehow related to the cold temps but plan to check all the connections under the hood in the morning as well. Could always be worse but still have 7+ hours left in the drive tomorrow till we reach our destination and not an ideal time for it to happen.

Seems to me like -15 -20 is causing the underboost message with the tune, but then I read you had the same msg in the summer. This is definitely odd and I want to know what it is too.
I had the 93 performance tune on and was flooring it on the highway and I got the wrench and it said something about precollision so I emailed 5* and they emailed me a revised tune the next day. Hasn't happened since. I wonder why you are still having issues when flashing it back to stock.

I'm glad you mentioned the pre-collision warning! I got that one time as well and forgot to put that in the original text, interesting that you experienced it on another tune too.

I have no tunes and no issues with extended drives in near or Sub-Zero temps at highway speeds.

So the next day it had warmed up to around 3 degrees in the morning reaching about 32 to top and made another 6 hour drive without an issues, running the stock tune. After doing some searching on the web I'm thinking it could've possibly been related to my wastegate sticking/freezing up with it being that cold because of other reports throwing the same code? Could be off but that's my current theory. Given that I was running the stock tune and ran into the same issue that night I don't think it was specific to my tune and it had already been over half the trip along with thousands of other miles tuned.

Sorry for the delay on this, I got a reply but not a whole lot of info as to what might have caused it from them other than just that they’ve experienced it on their personal Rangers too and in their defense it happened after flashing to the stock tune as well. Can’t help but think it was somehow cold related but I’ve got no way to confirm and it’s been fine ever since but it’s still somewhat concerning to me that it happened.

I was on a f250 forum and the 2 people that posted about having the underboost condition ended up getting their turbochargers replaced at the dealership.

And I still have the U0422 after changing my tire size with my sct bdx tuner.

Interesting, I’m planning to run the stock tune for a bit and see if it comes back up.
