Todd, yeah for sure. I definitely like the BFG Trail-Terrains. They were near the top of my list, but in an 18", they unfortunately, only go up to a 285/60. When I compare that size on "Tire Size Calculator.com, to a 275/70R18 it just didn't quite get me where I wanted to be.
Switch to 17's, 18's are an odd duck size for trucks! ?

the mich ltx is a great tire. ive had a couple sets of them in the past. they lasted so long and had zero issues. if your not off road much or hauling lots of weight the lighter tire would be fine.
i have lt E rated tires on my 5 g. are they heavy, sure. i avg 21.5 mpg so the weight hasnt been a huge hit in mpg. id guess with p tires in the stock size i might gain 1 - 2 mpg back. im off road as often as possible, i load my truck full of stuff and i despise having to change tires esp. when its needed in the middle of no where in crappy conditions. so the extra weigh and mpg loss is worth it for me. my 4g ranger is what i drive around the city most days and barely ever even sees a gravel road. its got p metric tires and they work fine for me 99% of the time. im ready to get rid of the ones i have as they are kinda crummy lol.

If its a pavement truck, its silly to use anything other than a P rated highway tire. My wife's Hyundai Sonata has high quality all seasons on it, not ATs. My Subaru had very light ATs on it, as we camped in remote desert reaches, crossed snowy passes. Now, my Ranger has C rated ATs on it for the same reason. If we didn't use it that way, it'd be all-seasons, all the time.
