And I drive slowly/am very careful! That's just what thousands of miles of desert and more thousands of really potholed pavement will do.DAYUM!!!!!
Were these stock sway bar links? Or outlandish overland quick disconnect? Same thing recently happened to me with outlandish overland quick disconnects.had to install stock links back on truck. Not sure if the material used by outlandish overland was good enough or rated properly. I only sheared driver side bottom luckily I noticed it pretty quick didn’t damage anything else. I wish they made a set of sway bad disconnects for our trucks. My wife, dogs and I just got back from a three month trip through Baja. The outlandish ones. Second time it's happened. Probably just going to pull the bar entirely. My full BP-51 setup does pretty well without. Were these stock sway bar links? I only have 5100’s set at stock setting paired with Eibach springs. Can run it without sway bar feels sketchy actually get speed wobbles at 75-80 freeway speeds here in soCal. Plan up upgrading to BP-51 in future. Thanks for feed back was curious if BP-51 would be more stable. The outlandish ones. Second time it's happened. Probably just going to pull the bar entirely. I also have RSI smart cap don’t baby it too much. But I do periodically re toque bolts just part of maintenance. But haven’t noticed anything major also have the rack installed on top and vagabond Roam RTT tent on top and 4’ awning. Where did you get caps for locks? You just contacted RSI directly on bought them on a website?I have been super happy with my RSI Smartcap. I don't baby it and have never had a single issue with it other than the known issue of crud getting into locks (solved by some caps they sent). It wasn't cheap, but I like the looks, it is well made, and it delivered to my door and wasn't too difficult to assemble and install.
I got them before RSI was making them from some aftermarket solution. Can’t recall where now. I think now I would probably just reach out to RSI.I also have RSI smart cap don’t baby it too much. A) I've tried those too. Came loose immediately.i upgraded my links to dobinsons links when i moved to foxes and tremor springs. they aren’t anything special- just all steel and no plastic.
so all these chinese caps that are coming over here, makes me wonder if i can buy one straight from them. hypothetically.
I have a SmartCap and I love it. I decided to have my offroad shop do the install. They're predominantly an Alucab dealer, but I figured they had a library of experience to draw on. That said, RSI recommends a yearly check of all the fasteners. I haven't done it yet, but I certainly plan to.I called the company a few months ago and paid for one. I originally wanted to go with RSI but a few buddies of mine have nothing but horror stories regarding leaking and frozen locks. Figured with OVS being less expensive than RSI it was worth a shot. The guy I spoke with said they have a lifetime warranty for just about everything short of rolling the truck and I personally like that it does not have side windows.
Unfortunately I can't really share much more until I receive it and can put it through its paces.
EDIT: When I spoke with them a few months ago, I was told to expect it around the end of the year or very early next year. Would be very happy if it comes in August, just in time for my bday... =P
I have an OVS 270 awning. I'll say that I'm happy with the product considering what I payed for it. There are alotta fit & finish issues, but dealing with those things would likely bring the price up. In the end, it's an awning and it does the job I need it for. What makes you say that? Have you had any experience with other products from the company? I can cancel my order up until whenever it actually ships... Really wish we had more topper options other than basic fiberglass toppers or the ridiculously expensive RSI. Currently running some BillieBars and I'm not happy with them.
RSI now has a facility in Texas. I'm not sure what is currently being made there, but I do know their intent is to scale that up. Fwiw, I know my SmartCap is from SA. Fun fact... I think my cap came in the same shipment with @Colo_Ranger's.RSIs are made in SA by local laborers earning $2/hr. Same deal with distributor and dealers, so you're still spending thousands on a product that ultimately cost a couple hundred.
You off-road a bit, you will eventually suffer a failure.
