I will agree with @Megawatt that there are all sorts of forms for OffRoad. In my opinion if you truly want to go OffRoad for the joy of getting off the beaten path it is best to have a 4WD since it will have less chance of getting stuck compared to a 2WD.
If you decide to stay with a 2WD I would suggest staying on the light roads only just so you dont have as many mishaps.
If you start to enjoy the OffRoad and want to go further consider either trading in for a 4WD or get a second vehicle for the extra fun.
