Update

This morning the wrench was gone and reverse was working.

Went to the dealership. Has code P2704. Evidently it has thrown this code multiple times every day for months that I was unaware of. Truck is at the dealership and I'm waiting to see what they come up with.

I'm glad that they have a code. It proves that you have an issue. I hope they can repair it to your satisfaction. Positive vibes your way.

I've had that happen. My suggestion is to only park in places you can pull through or roll backwards out of a spot.
Of course my vehicle was a '78 Chevy van in about '92.

I had the same thing on my 06 Explorer, blew out reverse, I drove it a year like that ....

The small town dealership told me the transmission needed to be overhauled. Also said that they didn't have the proper fusilaties to do it.

I was able to drive it the 200 miles back home. Found out today that I will be getting a new transmission.
