I agree with others on here. It's better to leave it alone. If it really bothers you, just mask off the lower panels and paint it black.

Maybe you could talk the dealership into giving you a deal on some steps? there are a few models on the ford accessory site.

I noticed this on my truck as well. A little ugly, but at least I know it’s sealed well. These are a little pricey, but maybe someday I’ll get the side skirts to cover it. I don’t know if they would work without the steps though.
