Hi all - I just traded in my '05 WRX STi toward a '19 Ranger Lariat (still trying to get over the loss of my car!!) and I just had a quick question.

I noticed on my commute in this morning that the driver's side mirror seems distorted to me, almost like it's concave, while the passenger side seems to be perfectly crisp. Is this normal? I searched around the forums and never saw anyone else make mention of this issue, so I'm not sure if it's intended for a wider viewing angle or if my mirror glass is imperfect. If I did miss a post on this, I apologize for the oversight.

I also noticed a little bit of a buzzing noise coming from the engine bay in some way, not sure if it's just fan noise or what, but I'm going to give it some time to break in to see if it goes away.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I've maybe noticed the driver's side mirror is a little wonky if you look at it a certain way. But I haven't been sure if it's just the position I have it in, or if it's got a smudge, or if it's actually distorted. In the end though, I don't notice it when I'm using it, only when I'm starting at it trying to figure it out.

Does the buzzing noise sound like a sewing machine? Because if so, I'm pretty sure that's just the sound of any small Ecoboost engine. Otherwise, I'm not sure.

I don't have much to add about the mirror, but I similarly traded a 2011 WRX for a Ranger Lariat. I definitely still miss that car! I totally understand where you're coming from! The Ranger is wonderful though :) Enjoy!

Hahaha definitely was not checking the hair, it was chilly this morning so I didn't even stick my head out the window! I wasn't sure if there was a shipping film on the window or on the mirror but as best I can tell, there isn't, but I didn't notice this on my drive home from the dealer since it was dark.

I did give them a call and they want service to take a look at it, so hopefully I can bring it by on a lunch break tomorrow and they will make it right if needed.

Thanks for the insight regarding the buzzing too; not sure what it is, but it does seem to change sound depending on the cycling of the motor, and it's much more audible as the RPMs are lower and the ride is quieter, but I'll likely bring this up to them tomorrow as well. I thought maybe I was going crazy since I was so attuned to the way my Subaru sounded, but I still think this is making some racket that isn't normal.

Thanks for the input, I'll keep you apprised if anything changes.

Hi Steve,

There are reports of the defroster duct by the windshield buzzing. Could this be your noise? Having a Lariat, you should have a engine cover that helps to damp out the injector noise. There is also a report or two on a rattle which is caused by the wastegate rod. Good luck with your new Ranger!

Good mention Phil, I noticed the cover was "missing" on an XLT I saw, and my Lariat had the cover, now I know better.
