New to the forum. Picked up my truck in Fairfield, California and drove it back to Texas. Austin area dealers are bad about discounts and this truck had color, options, etc. With them not making 2023 Tremors any more I had to go where the remaining truck was.

Thanks to this forum I have a pool noodle to protect my spark plugs from rusting, no more soft brake pedal, Bambi lights, no more Auto Stop/Start, the end of the double beep, and I picked up an engine cover locally from the marketplace. Love the truck so far. I hope it continues to be fun to drive.

2022 Ranger Lariat FX4
New member here near San Francisco. Just replaced my 255k Nissan Frontier work truck with a 2022 Lariat FX4 in cactus grey with blackout. My first Ford and my first automatic. It's a huge adjustment, all the bells and whistles. Other than the toaster-sized key fob, the only glaring issue is the lack of a track system for the bed. Compared to my Nissan, this is a plush car with a bed. I know it's very capable, but in terms of daily features, there's way more in the cab than I need and less in the box. Also puzzled by 18" wheels on an offroad package. Traditionally you get smaller rims and bigger tires for the cushion and grip. Odd to go the more street-oriented direction. Maybe just a quirky special order by the original owner. Also, the 1981 door button pad is hilarious.

Pulled the trigger on the purchase because the 2024 is growing too large for my needs and they made it look like the down-market Maverick. That was a bad design choice. 2022 has the same drivetrain and better looks in a more compact package. Easy.

Enjoying it so far and looking forward to working out the cargo puzzle for work and mountain bikes.

Welcome! Totally agree with you on the looks and size of the '24s. Watch your wallet around here and I bet you'll be able to find some solutions to your bed issues.

Welcome to the forum Matt. There’s little support for setting up the Ranger bed like your old truck, either from Ford or the aftermarket. Custom work just might be in your future.

That keypad is not hard-wired (battery) so you can easily remove it by running dental floss behind it, clean it all up and remount it inside the gas door as others have done.

I'm not sure the standard FX4 package wheel size, I know those wheels are part of the Black Appearance Package. You can remove and relocate that keypad, not wired in and there is no hole behind it, just that 3M adhesive holding it on.

I was going to help suggest things to buy, but found that in CA the 22-23 Ranger still have not received CARB for the Ford Performance tune. I have that on my 2021 alone with the Ford Performance exhaust and like the change they give.

Hello there, I'm Matt, and this is my 2020 Ranger XL SuperCab 2WD. Bought it as a replacement for my previous work truck, a 2004 Explorer Sport Trac. Bought used in October '22 with 22,560 miles on the odometer, now at 50,970 in February '24. Already getting into modifying it with Bronco Big Bend take-offs to replace the steelies. Hope to interact with you all in some way.
