Notice this about a week ago. My rear passenger side bumper is pushed in. No blemishes on painted surface other than a slight ding that really can't be noticed.
It pushed in the rear plastic shroud or whatever it is called as you can see in the picture.

The first pics are from the pushed side followed by the side that is not damaged.
Any advise as can it be pulled out or if I will have to take it in to body shop.
Thanks in advance.

If you get under the truck you'll see hw beefy the structure is under the bumper.

For sure.. that's a body shop fix. if you determine you want it fixed.

Other than the plastic piece that is seen when you open the tailgate it's not to noticeable. But hell John I couldn't even tell you when it happened :giggle: I believe if it isn't to much (haha) I can fork out the cash or even put a claim to my insurance since I have a forgiveness for such oddities.
But you are correct when I looked underneath there sure isn't much to it

@GregM Greg, It looks to me like the bumper was just misaligned from the factory. IMHO if you had backed into something, or someone had hit it you would have a pretty noticeable ding/scar. I'm sorry I can't tell where that bottom picture would be on the bumper. There's 4 bolts (21 mm) that hold the bumper (and the hitch if you have the tow package) on the frame, 2 on each side. You'll need to loosen all four just enough to be able to slide the bumper to get it lined up. If you have the tow package make sure you torque the bolts back down to specs (I'm sorry I can't remember the exact torque). If you don't have a tow package just tighten the crap out of them. :) Torque isn't that important if you're not towing.

Maybe someone here knows the torque if you have a hitch.

See Greg all those times letting your tailgate slam down has finally caught up to you. You know what would've prevented that don't you? :lipssealed: ?

Dave, I was going to mention this, but I figured it would go without saying.

Interesting thought Jim.

Ya know Greg if that's the case... take it back and have the dealer align it. :handshake:

Since there are no visible marks that would allow the dealer to claim that it was your fault, I vote for taking it to the dealer, saying that it was misaligned from the get-go, which is probably true, and asking them to take care of it, gratis. If that doesn't work, I would do ... nothing!

Hi Greg,

If it is a parking lot mishap...a possibility, it was ever so slight. I would recommend you loosen the bracket to frame bolts and see if it can be realigned on this side or see if the dealer will do this for you if you are not handy with tools... I am sure a body shop could help too, but if it were my truck, I would try to adjust it and if not...just live with it....JMO

Thanks for the advise Jim. The pic in question is when the tailgate was open. It is the same plastic part the license plate attaches to. Seeing it got moved out of place that far pretty much eliminates the factory alignment equation. I am going to take it in sometime soon and see what my dealer body shop can do.
Again thanks for your suggestion :like:

Thanks Phil I am going to see what the body shop has for opinions and see where that takes it. If not I'm going to just live with it.
The thing is if it was a parking lot bump why are people so crude :( not to leave a note or whatever.

I don't think it was hit because there would be some visual damage. With the paint being so thin it would've worn away even with a slight bump and the black plastic on the bumper would have a white scuff on it. Is it possible it could've been this way all along and you're just noticing it now?

I doubt it. My eyes catch abnormalities more than I wish to admit. When I clean her up I even open the tailgate and clean and dry the sides and bottom. Hence I would have noticed as in the bottom pic the plastic being out of place.
