Hi all!

I bought a 2021 XLT 4x4 (not FX), with, I think, the black trim package.

Going over things in my garage I was surprised to find what appears to be a missing grill piece under the front bumper.

What I assume to be the air-conditioner condenser, it is completely exposed to kicked-up rocks and debris.

Is it suppose to be open like in the photo below or am I right that a piece of the grill is missing?

I'm not seeing any attachment points around that open space. Hard to believe that it would be open like this, though. Driving a little used dirt road with bushes in the center could cause a lot of damage to the condenser, I'd think.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

That was one of the first changes I made. Makes one wonder, what was Ford thinking? Then when I did, I bought the unpainted unit. And then painted it myself. With the paint it cost less than if I had bought the black unit.

I've got a 2021 XL Super Cab and I also noticed that it never had anything below the grille to protect the A/C condenser and was wondering about that myself. I bought it brand new....so I'm sure that's the way Ford designed it. I'm glad this came up on the Forum... because some of the guys have solutions for this, as this "gap" gives a straight shot to the condenser for bugs, dirt, stones...etc. from the road.

Ford has to get rid of the huge backlog of condensers they got from China !
They just leave the piece out .
