Had a screw in sidewall of rear tire. Against better judgment went to closest dealer to me, where they made mistakes in the past. They had cheapest price on gen grabber atx. Made sure with service it was oem tire for tremor. Needed one rear tire new & was going to put my spare on other side so both rear are new and the fronts would have 14k on them. After 2 hours job was done & when I got home i realized they put on a standard load gen grabber not the LT ,C rated load grabber. Tires look the same but I thought wasn’t safe to have diff load tires. I called & they are all confused & will be getting back to me this morning. I have never been to one ford dealer in 3 years & had a good experience. Maybe just awful luck. Maybe dealers just suck. But how unsafe will this be for a few days?

It's not a problem, and it's not unsafe at all.....just keep the same pressure all around.
The difference is simply the number of ply's in the tread and sidewall....adding more increases the load the tire can handle....to see how big a difference, look on the sidewalls and you will see "2 ply/4 ply rating" or 4 ply or in the case of a E rated tire, 10 ply.
As long as the tread is relatively the same, and the size is the same, same psi in all, your good to go...

Might be good to go but rhe fact they are different would eat at me to no end until I got them exactly matched.
If I gotta replace one, then I replace at least 2.
Inside my head that makes sense.

Hay, you gotta do what makes you feel comfortable. As to your first inquiry, there is no safety hazard at all concerning your question. The only time I could see a problem is if your Ranger was loaded over the recommended weight capacity of the tires....and if you ever carried that much weight, I would worry more about damaging the truck itself.
Load capacity is on each of the tires and in the load ratings your talking about, I doubt if there is too much difference at all.

Agreed. Load ratings on ATs tend to be pretty high even in SL.
According to Tirerack the load capacity of the SL grabber is over 2600lb...way higher than the LT Hankooks that you get with the tow package. Hardly a safety issue LMAO

Thanks all. Just wanted to be sure that having a passenger standard load grabber on one side of rear and LT c load grabber on other side of rear would be ok for few days of driving and sounds like it will be.

This shouldn't be a problem short term. I've seen a lot of nissan altimas running on spares for months at a time, sometimes multiple spares too. Hopefully the ford dealer gets this fixed though so you can get what you paid for. Typical ford though. ?

I agree. I would always insist on the exact same matches regardless of the outcome. I feel that any business should be responsible to do this for a customer to make it right.

Gah… they say the vin # doesn’t show the exact tire, not their fault….asking for stock factory tire for tremor came up the standard load one etc….tire they gave me has already been driven on so they can’t take it back…usual dealer stuff…they are willing to sell me a new tire using an employee discount and waive any labor/mount balance fee. They will pick my truck up from me & drive it back to me…
So I’m definitely going to get a matching tire no question. But do I pay more somewhere else or just take this offer & pay $250 & never go back. I never trust sending my food back so it gives me anxiety. Plus I feel I did nothing wrong. Always something…

Does your spare match the front tires? If so, you could have the spare put on your rim and the new tire put on the spare rim.

So I had a screw in rear tire sidewall. All 4 tires have 14k on them. So I put 1 new tire in rear to replace bad tire with hole & used spare that never was used on other side. So two rear tires are new and 2 fronts have 14k on them. And the spare is now a good tire with 14k on it.

Honestly, I feel like that would absolutely be their fault for not matching your tires, or at least give you the heads up that they are not an exact match. I'd be pissed and give them enough grief that they would swap it out on their dime. Bad Yelp/Google reviews and social media help! lol
