Long scenic routes in or very close to Georgia?

I've got a bit of an urge for a road trip and it doesn't nessasarily have to be off-road. The Blue Ridge Mountains comes to mind and that is also the direction of Tail of the Dragon.

Any other suggestions for long drawn out scenic views?

I enjoy my time behind the wheel regardless of the landscape under the tires.

I was going to suggest the blue Ridge mountains.

We did rail of the dragon, and another road that went along the Ridgeline, I can't remember the name. I preferred the Ridgeline road to tail of the dragon.

Depending on how far you want to drive, Ocala national forest in Florida isn't horrible. (I don't drive there from south Florida because it's not worth it to me, ymmv)

If you go to that area you have to drive the Cherohala Skyway as well.

Yea we went there in October. Nice drive, crappy tourist destination.

I dunno why, but I was expecting more out of Helen, GA. A couple of neat niche shoppes, but the rest were just tourist junk.

Ah yes, I remember that. We actually took advantage of nice weather and went tubing. That was our highlight other than the drive. There was also some kind of car show in town.

If you want a scenic drive through the forest, go up to Vogel State Park and go past the entrance to the next road on your left (Wolf Pen Gap Rd).

Take that for a couple of miles and turn right onto Duncan Ridge Rd, which is a forestry service road that meanders through the forest.

Go to the end and take a left onto Mulky Gap Rd.

Mulky Gap will turn into Cooper's Creek Rd.

Right after it changes into Cooper's Creek, turn right onto Sea Creek Rd. You will see a parking area on your left after a very short drive. Across from the parking area the road goes through the creek.

Park in the parking area and follow the trail for about 1/10th of a mile and you'll find the very nice and secluded Sea Creek Falls.

If you search for Sea Creek Falls on Google Maps it will have you drive across the creek and around the back, where you can't see the falls very well.

There are several walking trails around the falls that you can explore as well.

This is a couple hours drive, but worth it.

Not there, but the Cooper Creek USFS campground is about 5 minutes away.

It's a primitive campground so no big RVs there.

You can begin in the northwest corner of Georgia and travel along winding roads that hug the western edge of the Chattahoochee National Forest from Chatsworth to Blue Ridge.

You can make a stop for mountain hikes and sips at award-winning local wineries along the way.

Take the long route to Blairsville from Blue Ridge and enjoy some of North Georgia's most enticing curvy mountain roads.
