Hello all,
I don't see this posted but please forgive me it is is posted elsewhere.
I'll post my actual question first so you don't have to read the entire post unless you really want to
Q:
I purchased a Reese officially licensed lighted rear ford emblem (Amazon) The sizing is perfect and the hardware install went fine...The wiring is another story.
The manufacturer "says' the brake conversion module is internal (which I highly doubt).
This module is intended for vehicles where the turn and stop lights are on the same circuit...
So does anyone know IF in fact the 2019 Ranger turn and stop lights are on the same circuit?????
Additional details if you desire more back story...
I'm 99.9% certain I have correctly confirmed my STOP and TAIL Lamp signal wires using a circuit tester and turning the tail lights on and off and having the brake pedal pressed on and rebased as I held the tester...so I'm pretty confident the correct wires were identified.
When I have the two wires from the emblem connected (one to the tail/parking light wire and one to the stop/brake wire) the emblem is lit on the low range as expected, however, my two factory brake lights act like they're engaged when the brake is NOT depressed...when I depress the brake the factory brake lights do nothing of course because they're already engaged some how...my center mount brake light pulses correctly with the pedal press and the emblem does NOT get brighter as it's supposed to.
If I remove the wire to the STOP signal wire then my factory brake lights and center mount lights act as expected but of course the emblem doesn't get brighter...
Basically I'm only able to use the parking/tail light function and have the other wire disconnected.
Thanks in advance!
