The center caps for my 16" steel wheels seem like theyd come off easy. I can use my fingers with medium force and they do. These are new bronco tske offs. Are they notoriius for coming off? Can i appky something like adhesive to keep them in place. Only time they need to come off is when i do a tire swap.

Haven't seen them but how about Teflon tape, grips better than not having it and isn't as semi permanent as adhesive?

maybe some 3m double sided tape. its what a lot of folks put emblems or trim on cars, window visor vents etc. with.

Not sure if I heard of any common issue. I suppose a dab or two of silicone adhesive won't harm anything. How do these mounts? On the lug nuts?

I agree they seem like they’d fly off.

Lug nuts have zero contact with them. They just push into the center hole of wheel but its nkt all that great.

so i tried to install a cap into the new spare- the new spare is on the same type wheels as the new wheels on the truck and are black powder coated (i paid a guy to do this instead of keeping them silver) ford bronco 16" steelies. The center caps attach to the wheels and not the hubs by design. I can see this because i can look at the rear of the wheel and see the tabs partially connected on one side but not the others. I cannot get the cap to fully seat. I can get one side but when i hit the opposing side with a mallet the side that was engaged, comes back up, even with me holding it down. Perhaps I need to further hit the side i think is engaged asnd it has to snap? If not, then I am starting to wonder if the powder coating has made it just a hair too tight there and perhaps the answer is to sand some of the area on the inside of the wheel center hole. The center hole is about 3 5/8" in diameter give or take.

just an update. my tire guy told me that the caps i bought are not compatible with the wheels i have now, which are 16" bronco steelies. Not enough room for the caps to clip between the hub and the back of the wheel. Looking at the cap and the wheel, if it's designed for that wheel, it's a bad design. the only thing keeping them on would be friction between the clips and the walls of the bore.

i did some more digging online and found that the caps i bought-

ab3z-1130-d

are compatible with ford ranger 16" wheels but nOT bronco 16" wheels. This is from tasca as well as other ebay vendors.

My ebay vendor that sold me these caps, states they work on all the broncos and rangers.

My vendor has been notified of this by me. If he doesn't provide me with a path to a refund, I will make my own by contesting the credit card charge and blame it on false adverstising- which is appears it is based on other vendors on the net.

I have since ordered part-
M2DC-1A096-HB

via 3 different vendors. Expecting first couple next week and will report back but they should work as the vendor who sold me two, has confirmed the above came from a ranger wheel 16" steel that they have for sale on ebay- perhaps someone put them on and decided to remove.....who knows.

yes the part above has the bronco thing but i am ok with that. if later i am not, i can change it out easily.

fyi, my wheels came off a 22 bronco and the part number is kb3c-1015 -DB.

that seems to point to a ranger wheel and bronco wheel though it's fuzzy. Guy who sold them to me said they came off a 2022 bronco......
