Finally went out and got a Ranger w/ the Tremor package, after debating between the Ranger and a ZR2. The ZR2 may be slightly better off-road from the factory, but I just didn't want to risk the questionable reliability in that V6 engine. The Ecoboost seems to be quite reliable, and I think it's not too expensive to throw on a front locker down the road need be. Anyways, the truck took this incline in the photograph, both going up and down, fairly easily in 4 Low --- the screen said it was 27 degrees of an incline, which is believable considering before I drove up to it, I thought there was no way in heck I was going to make it up because it was so damn steep (hard to see the actuality of it in the photograph)... and going down, for a few seconds, the truck felt like it was articulating too much to the side, as if it was about to roll over.

Welcome and congratulations on the truck. Iconic Silver?
Thanks! It's by far the only car/truck I've ever purchased without having any buyer's remorse afterwards. But yeah, it's actually Carbonized Grey. Initially wanted the Cactus Gray, which most seem to really like too, but I stumbled upon this specific truck on Autotrader in used condition, which finally pushed me over the edge to make the purchase.

Oh, by the way... if anyone reads this, this might help, I think I got the truck for 44,000 out the door (this includes tax, reg, etc. in the high tax state of California), used. I went into the dealer right before they closed on a Thursday night, and I think the staff was so tired that I was able to get a half decent deal in this market because they just wanted me out.

I thought it might be Carbonized Grey but it looked a little lighter in your avatar picture, and you can't really tell in your night photo. Carbonized is probably the best color option on these trucks. ?

Nice ride! Sounds like you got a good deal too. The Tremor Ranger is such a good truck. In 2019 I had a rental that was a Ranger for 6 weeks. I beat the piss out of that truck, a true torture test. It just kept asking for more. Made the Tacoma I had at the time seem boring and slow. I wanted one ever since. I bought a Tremor when I got the chance. Like you, I’ve found it very capable. I think the FOX shocks help it have good manors at speed in the desert trails and the 32’s with the little bit of lift make a fair amount of difference in departure and approach angles. Congrats on the truck! Looking forward videos of you jumping it!?

Thanks! And yeah, I agree. I love Japanese engineering, and how slow they evolve in order to stay close to perfection... but the common end result is ultimately something boring. This Ranger is something special (as someone new to truck off-roading, I'm dumbfounded on how well it performs with an idiot like me driving). It's hard to really find fault with any part of it, and I think reviews that give it good reviews, but not great, are from journalists who don't push the truck during their testing. And I was reading the Australians absolutely love the Ranger, and have beat the crap out of them for the last decade without problems, so that must be a good sign, like you were saying, since we're getting the refined version of the truck since it's almost a decade after they got to buy them. Anyways, I finally got a day off this weekend, so I'll post the damage done afterwards.

Welcome to the family! Watch your wallet as the money seems to fly out of it for cool stuff for your truck. Most of us know this to be a fact ?
