We went to Lowe's earlier and bought 15 bags of mulch and when I loaded it all into the bed, the truck sat level and looked pretty sweet actually! I may drop it another inch and see how it looks? I'm more worried about it squatting in the rear, when it's actually moving/accelerating? But, sitting still, I like the leveled look!

This is a statement, from my build thread a ways back, I think page 2 or 3? I was doing some figuring and estimating what the drop gap height was going to be, once I got everything installed. Well, some things changed and either my calculations were wrong (99% probability this is correct) or it's just the physics of the suspension? More below...

Ground to center of fender lip height; Rear stock was about 39" ,Front stock was roughly 35"

Rear drop of 6" (Belltech) should give me a new rear gap of 2.5"

And the front drop of 3" (Belltech) should give me a new front gap of 2 1/8"

My tire size is the same height as stock, which is 30.5"

For those of you following this thread, I dropped the rear another inch tonight, making it a 5" drop in the rear and about a 2" up front.

Here's the new pic.
IMG_20220427_170158604_HDR.jpg

So, I used the Control Freaks front Viking Coilovers and Adj. UCA's and my new ground to center of fender lip measurement is 33", which now has a fender/tire gap of 2.875" (2 7/8").

My rear drop is Belltech Rear Flip kit and I switched it to the 5" drop hole tonight and my new ground to center of fender lip measurement is also 33", which now has a fender/tire gap of 3".

So, if I did the original measurements correctly months ago, that's roughly a 2"/6" total drop?

I still would prefer a 3"/6" drop... Control Freaks recommended me to not go any lower in the front, than what it's at, but with his coilovers, I can actually drop it 5" in the front, if I wanted too? And I can drop the rear another 1". That would achieve my 3"/6" drop, but I'm unsure about the geometry in the front end? I really wish Belltech would release some 2" drop spindles!

I also have been messing with the Compression and Rebound settings on my Viking front coilovers, that @Doc mentioned doing the other day. I put the "C" to full, which I believe is 19 clicks, but the "R" was still at 10 clicks.

So, after I lowered the rear and adjusted the headlights, I readjusted the "C" to 14 clicks and the "R" to 18. I have to go into work tonight in a couple of hours, so I'll see how it handles and let yall know later?

Oh, I forgot something! I have to work an extra shift tonight, in about 30 minutes and we magically get tomorrow off, so I think I'm going to change my oil. I'm curious about the fuel dilution, so I have a Blackstone kit already waiting for me, in the garage, along with 7 qts of Motorcraft 5w30 Syn-Blend and a Motorcraft filter.

Truck has a whopping 2278 miles on it, since driving off the lot last October :) Oil life says it's right at 50%, so I figured I'd change it about every 6 months, since there's no way I'll be at 5000 miles before this October, LOL!

This is my first change on this truck. Don't see it being any different than other vehicles I've changed the oil in over the last 30 years :D

Hey, funny, got mine done today too. Seemed straight forward enough. Filter is by the driver side front wheel so the tech had It removed. Can’t beat a mobile service from the comfort of my home office.

I never got a notification about your reply... I just looked at my thread a minute ago and saw it...

I don't like "technicians" to work on my vehicles, I can do it myself... :)

I worked outside, in our yard, all day Friday and Saturday and like normal, my body is hating me today, for all that work I did.

I was going to change it today, if it rained, but now that's not even looking like it's going to happen? It's not like it has to be changed today, since I drive about 56 miles a week....

I just wanted to bump my build thread and say that I am going to:

Reinstall my Unleashed tune soon

I'm also going to buy the UPR dual valve oil catch can, as much as I'm not looking forward to dumping it, every 3 days, in the cold months...

I'm going to attempt to install a mechanical boost gauge when it gets cooler?

Install those little bump stops so my control arms won't bottom out on the top of my wheel wells...

I was also thinking about building some kind of front air splitter, mostly for looks?

I thought about doing the Kicker speaker upgrade and the auto all 4 windows down module?

There's not much left to do honestly...

I wish there were more people into lowered, 2wd sport trucks... :( I remember 20-30 years ago, hardly anyone bought 4x4 trucks...

Last Wednesday, we decided that we were going to wake up super early Thursday morning and head to the Tail of the Dragon. We got up at 3am, left the house at 3:50am, got to Deals Gap in about 4 hours, rode 3 of the popular roads, looked at the Fontana Dam stuff, saw some cool Miata's, since it was Miata's At The Gap weekend too. Took a few days, but I finally got some pics of my truck on the Dragon and the stance is cool looking! I never had an issue with the rear ending breaking loose and no rubbing in the front wheel wells :)

I was trying to upload Killboy's pics, but they were almost 20MB each.... I also made a NoPro video, but the wind noise was unbearable... I edited most of it and added some ambient music to it. It's about 20 minutes long.
2021 Ford Ranger (modified) US129 does the Dragon, full 11 miles.

I miss them too. We have a 4x4 since that's what our weather dictates here.

Is this low enough for you?

Great photos Jason - your truck looks better than ever. I’m not sure why the person in the white truck pulled over. Some might say it was because he was going slow and was just letting you by.

I think he was saying, “WTF is that behind me, ima pull over so I can get a better look!”

BEAUTIFUL!

LOL, thanks! I know you're being facetious about the guy pulling over, but in all seriousness, they have this rule on that road, if you're doing the speed limit 30mph or less and there's clearly a vehicle behind you going faster, you're supposed to pull off and let them pass :)

If you're a complete moron, you can pass someone across the mustard, which many have done, cars, trucks and motorcycles, some succeed and some fail....

Or the random Miata idiot kids, that buy a shitbox, with bald tires and drive these roads at ridiculous speeds... or grown ass men that buy a newer Miata, with zero skills on how to drive them.... These Miata pics were all taken last Friday/Saturday....

Wow, thanks for posting those. You know there are a lot dummies out there when there’s a search category for this with endless memes, gifs, even YouTube videos called Fail of the Dragon. ?‍♂

Been a few months since I posted, but I installed my new UPR Dual Oil Catch Can. Took about 4 hours to do everything. Some of the hoses were assembled incorrectly and the instructions weren't as straight forward as owner Steve implied... Had to modify my engine cover and I ordered the drain kit, which will make things much easier in the cooler months!

On mid-21's to present, this is how the OEM upper PCV hose is routed and plugged into the intake. You can see the new Continental UPR Hoses where the 2 attach and head to the catch can.
IMG_20221011_191044229.jpg

All 3 hoses connected to the can.
IMG_20221011_191054571_HDR.jpg

IMG_20221011_191101358.jpg

This next part was awful, but I eventually figured it out. This is where a few hoses were built incorrectly... Not happy about what I had to do to the engine cover... :( I'm thinking about getting another cover and just cutting a hole in it, for the new thingy on top of the valve cover, if that could be possible?
IMG_20221011_191112557.jpg

Routed the drainage kit down to this area. This means all I'll have to do, is stick my hand under here every 3-5 days, in the winter/cold months, to easily clean out the can!
