Not trying to argue against those that purchased a Lariat, for some its the right thing to do, for others the cost is an issue, and for some they might not like or need all the options the Lariat offers.I must have lucked out, when I was looking I spent less that $2k more for a Lariat over an XLT. Are you telling me you've managed to upgrade to everything the Lariat has for less than that?
Doing it after the fact I can pick and choose.
To answer your questions:
My truck had $9k discount that was not offered on Lariats so it was cost decision for me.
But so far I am on track to be less than 2k for the Lariat stuff I want.
Lariat Upgrades done or planned:
- Headlights - $400, less eventual sale of XLT headlights
- Home-link sun visor - $60 less $40 for XLT visor sale
- Lariat Side Mirrors - $550, less eventual sale of XLT mirrors
- $100 misc material, wire etc...
I like my XLT gauges more than the Lariats, but that's only $75 according to OP.
Didn't need leather seats and my XLT came with heated pwr seats.
B&O radio - a nice to have and not worth upgrade cost and effort.
Key-less entry/start - would love this, but it does not look like it could be easily done.
And I already have remote start (from key fob)
LED Fogs - I will replace with yellow/white switchback LEDs $50 to $100 eventually
Rain sense wipers - kinda cool, but does not look easily done.
What did I miss?
So for me easily under 2k in cost
For OP coming from an XL, even better IMHO!
And like I said the thrill of the chase. Sort of a hobby for me I picked up with my Frontier.
So my time is my hobby.
