You can get them really tight now and there's a company that does AeroBarrier. After you insulate and have everything as tight as you can get they come in and seal everything up, pressurize the house and release a sealant fog (kind of like a airborne spray insulation) into the air and it travels throughout the house plugging up all the small leaks you can't see and missed. This is an extreme and you'll need air handlers to bring in fresh even without doing this.

yessss. Great, isn't it? Nice to see how humanity, with lots of trial and error and collateral damage, creates solutions to problems that it wouldn't have if it didn't constantly try to create a new phenomenon to simulate innovation ???

That's kinda what I would think, unless there's also some kind of sound-deadening material also included in installation?
When we installed our metal roof 20 years ago, it was recommended to me to put 30# roofing felt under it to quiet it down. It can be a little loud in a very heavy rain, but I don't think it is much worse than our old comp roof was.

Now I guess I'm really official, I got my Arkansas drivers license today. Boy you really have to prove who you are here as you needed to bring what's on the sheet below. It's nice you need to really prove who you are and I joked with the lady she should be working at the southern border. :lipssealed:

Now I can apply for my CCW. They (like AZ) don't require you have one but I like to have it for when we travel and can carry in all reciprocal states. Plus it makes purchases go a little faster as you can bypass the NICS check since you've already had one with your CCW.

Sad to report there were no banjos passed out like I thought when trading in your old license.?

Received a letter from State of Texas to renew my DL. They are asking to see Social Security Card...come on Texas I already passed a background check for my License to Carry...aren't those things linked?.....next it will be DNA swab (maybe that will be taken at the DMV?)

I have a long time to go but I would love to retire to NW AR myself. I have family who lives in Peel so I get down there a few times per year and it's just amazing. It's probably not the place to move to if you are trying to meet a life partner, based on the people I have seen, but if you have a family already and are winding down from your career, it offers a great deal in the way of outdoor living.

Yeah, I agree with you they should be linked. Especially if you have your LTC you've already gone through a rigorous background check. Mines a catch 22 because I can't get my LTC until I get my license. Also if you apply for it (LTC) within 90 days you don't have to retake the LTC test which is nice.

While I was a little annoyed at first the more I thought about it the more it made sense. I'd rather the states (that care) be doing a little extra making sure you are who you say you are than, well you know. I had brought my SS card, Passport, copies of a utility bill & lease agreement, current DL and first page of my '23 tax return. Just in case I even brought my birth certificate and internet bill. lol The first time I went (2 weeks ago) I didn't know you needed all this and thought they'd just need your DL. I wasn't taking any chances this time not having all the right credentials. lol

I'm guessing you will be getting one of the new "Real ID" cards which are pretty sophisticated - it is the new form of ID you will need in order to fly pretty soon (a regular DL won't work). I got mine last year and they required similar proof of identity.

It is a really nice area and so far we're loving it here. Even Annie is warming up to it more and more and just said this morning how pretty everything is here being all green instead of all brown back in AZ. You're right almost everything here is geared towards the outdoors. From golfing, boating, mnt biking and hiking there's a lot to do. It's nice to be able to actually get out and do stuff here in the summer instead of being stuck indoors in 112+ heat. We had 3 days of mid - high 90's then rain yesterday and now the next week with be mid 80's/days and low - mid 60's nights.

We're right at that stage where we're winding down our careers and luckily she can work from home so that made it a lot easier. Rogers, Springdale and Fayetteville are really growing so I'd imagine even being younger and single it would still be an attractive place. With Walmart building their huge corporate office/city now it's bringing in a lot of younger families. One lady told me this morning at the DMV they (Walmart) expect to bring in 13,000 people for hire.

Yes I got that one this morning, for that one you needed two extra proofs of ID. I was just going to continue to use my passport as we don't fly much but it was just as easy to get this one and be done with it. It has a fancy hologram of your picture in the lower right corner and a shadow of your picture in the center of it. You really have to look for that one as you can't see it straight on until you tilt it at an angle.

It has a LOT of detail in it. I had never noticed it, but my wife noticed all sorts of hologram detail on it when you tilt the card around - it shows all the county names, the state flag (both sides!), the state name (twice!). As I said, pretty sophisticated - I had to wait about a week for mine after going in to the DMV - they gave me a temp one and then mailed the permanent one.

Wow I just noticed all the ones on the back of it. There's another small hologram of your picture in the lower left and a large one what looks like the state capital building through the mid section. The front has a seal from the state and a bunch of small diamonds in different shapes. I'm guessing every state has their own special features on them. They process the new ones right there as you wait. It wasn't more than 2 minutes after getting my picture taken I had the new license and was out the door.

It will even uncross the eyes of a cross-eyed banjo player

We installed a metal roof 10 years ago. The installers framed the entire roof with 2x4s, then leveled the 2x4s across the entire roof. They next added a layer of bubble insulation before installing the metal.

Dropped attic temps by 30 degrees to very near ambient, electric bill dropped $40 / month. it has been pretty quiet as well.

Money well spent. 40 year life.
