Our last move back to the midwest from TX was 5 trips with a U-haul trailer in about a five month span. First four we loaded ourselfs with the easy stuff. Last load we hired 2 guys $150 each 2 hr min to load same to unload. Both ends got it done within the 2 hr min. Saved alot of back aches. Money well spent. :) :whew:

It wasn't all that bad and we had it done just after 11am. It's kind of scary looking at all your stuff crammed into 14' of truck. lol

It's easy loading all the big boxes especially the ones that are the same size. After that it turns into a game of Tetris putting smaller boxes in empty spaces. I have 2 little giant ladders that we used and a wall and ratchet strapped them top and bottom. We'll see soon enough if everything survives. ?

Congrats Dave! Wish you and Annie the very best! Safe travels.
Thanks Daniel! Now that the trucks loaded the worst is over. Well, until we get there and I have to unload everything. lol But even that wont be bad because I have time to do it as they give you 3 days with the freight truck.

Good luck with the move, Dave.

With all of Annie's souvenirs, I'm surprised that this isn't what showed up outside your house:

:inspect: Brother, I think you're still short 6-8 trucks!

No you can use all 28' if needed. That's what's nice about these ABF Freight trucks is you're not locked into any amount of space. You only pay for what you use and then you put up a wall that locks (you provide your own locks) and hooks together. Whatever room beyond that gets filled with freight going to your destination.

The Polish is not strong with this one… you could have done it in a 10 foot space not 12 as shown.. in other words “Dave you’re slipping..”

Enjoy your new adventure in life!!

Not sure what you're talking about but there's nothing wrong with spray foam. Granted I'd like to have done Rockwool but it wasn't cost effective to do.
When we remodeled our house we had a lightweight foam pumped into the stud cavities after the sheathing went up. It's fire proof, warm and quiet.

WOW I didn't realize that you could use an LTL carrier to move with??? I ship lots of things for my company and wouldn't have thought of using a freight carrier to move with. Good luck with the move and your new residence with Annie in Arkansas Dave.

ABF Freightdoes DIY/assisted residential moving, and I believe R & L Carriers. Both are mainly LTL freight trucking, but offer moving.

Thanks Mark! You should look into them and see if you can use it for business too. I wouldn't see why you couldn't?

I used it to move out here 9 years ago and they are really great to deal with. All their agents are super helpful from their telephone customer service to their local people on the lot. They really try and take the stress out of moving and are VERY accommodating! They do have Relo-Cubes similar to a POD but they're weight/size restricted. With the freight truck you can use as much space as you need without worrying you'll need another Pod or two. Total cost for us was $2,745 which I thought was reasonable considering the times we're in.
